Earlier this summer, the Ontario Pathfinder Society website relaunched with a slick new design and a better interface, thanks to the hardworking efforts of Toronto Venture-Lieutenant Michael Iantorno, whose degree in Fine Arts means that he knows a whole lot more about design aesthetics than I do.
In addition, we took the opportunity to launch a series of community-focused columns, written by members of our community with experience and/or passion for writing. Our goal is to publish a column every Monday, rotating through the different columns so as not to overwhelm a particular author.
The columns are:
5-foot Theatre: A column focused on useful tips for GMing in general, but with a particular focus on the challenges for GMs.
Asmodean Advice: Similar to the Mergy's Methods, this is a column on advice for players. It's designed to be useful tips for new players and experienced ones.
Companion Corner: Wondering if the newest volume of the Companion line has anything useful for PFS play? This column has the answers! Every month, with an aim to look through the newest release, we'll look at a few of the new options (equipment, feats, and so on.)
News from the Front: For members of our community who have an idea for a column post, or something to talk about that they'd like a soapbox for, News from the Front is the space for them to do it. You never know what might get posted here until it goes up.
If you're interested, this link will take you to an index page for all the columns.

As an idea, maybe a "featured Fiction" column? Pick a local artist/writer, and feature a bit of a short story, or a roleplaying write up of a scenario, or some art of a scene from their latest exploits.
I'm a sucker for getting underdogs into the trade, and that might be the stage they get started on.

*Ahem*
It's Monday, and that means that we have a new post up on our columns section. Blaise, one of our local veteran GMs, gives some advice about maps and making use of fog of war! Here is a link to the latest post from 5-Foot Theatre!

Yeah, there's not much down London way at the moment. There is, as far as I know, a weekly game in Windsor, but that's still a couple of hours from London - too far to make it a regular trip, I'd think.
A quick Google search has a couple of open Pathfinder games at stores (The Game Chamber on Dundas), but no PFS. If you're interested in getting something started at one of your local stores, feel free to get in touch with Adam at mergy@ontariopathfinders.com, or me at jeff@ontariopathfinders.com, and we can help you get something going.
'Course, you could also just come out to the provincial conventions, too. There'll be a couple of us at Genrecon this Saturday, and a couple more at Gryphcon Shadow in a few weeks, both in Guelph. :)

A little late on the reposting here this week, but this past Monday our latest column was an Asmodean Advice about effective choices in Summon Monster IV through VI.
Listen, just because he's the patron God of Cheliax doesn't mean he gives bad advice. I'm just sayin'.

No battle bison on Summon Monster IV? To shame I say! Trampling is fun for everyone. Even the mighty Season IV 7-11s saw need to fear the might of the battle bison.

I can agree that its in-depth look at summoning has changed my outlook on the whole sub-school.
The other articles make for helpful tips for the players who might need to volunteer to GM at a later date.
The website even has a sub-forum for posting your PFS characters' back stories. It could come in handy for people who've read each others' posts and sign up for the same scenarios.

I agree with you Mark. Stampeding herd animals are are scary if there's enough room for them. I try and avoid summoning them so that I don't get in the way of other players. However, when my party of 3 sorcerers and a bow ranger played Fortress of the Nail, the gloves came off.
Leaving the Bisons out of this post was a copy/paste failure on my part. In my defense, I mentioned Aurochs in Summon Monster I-III!
Consider my wrist slapped and my heart shamed. :)

This week, Jeff explores the sometimes tenuous topic of Additional Resources for the glut of new players that our area has been experiencing. Questions about how it works? Read the latest News from the Front!

After a vigorous and polite discussion on last week's post, Brian returns this week with some Asmodean Advice on using Alter Self effectively.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but this week we're talking about the Pathfinder Society Primer over on Companion Corner.
Reads and especially comments are appreciated! I get so lonely...

Some technical glitches made the post a day late, but it's up now. In this week's News from the Front, local GM Dave debriefs his experience during the Toronto community's first GM 101.

Wanted to comment here. I mentioned the (virutal) immunity to polymorph from this spell (in the context of wanting to run/someone to run <redacted> for the greater hat of disguise). GM said he'd never allow it at his table. :-(

That's unfortunate. I'm not sure what to say about that, other than the fact that as far as I'm concerned, the Core Rulebook is pretty explicit about it.
You can only be affected by one polymorph spell at a time. If a new polymorph spell is cast on you (or you activate a polymorph effect, such as wild shape), you can decide whether or not to allow it to affect you, taking the place of the old spell. (Source)
Not sure exactly where the GM thinks the wiggle room in RAW is in the above quote. (Presuming it's for a PFS game.)

I don't see it either. OTOH, having the hat (or a potion of alter self) as a pre-emptive polymorph bane would be a shock to a GM. :-)

Sorry for adding to the discussion and coming in late so I might have missed something. Having a polymorph spell on you does not stop you from baleful polymorph, the spell itself dispels any polymorph spells on you if you fail to resist the spell.
Sorry if this has been brought up already.
Am I missing something?

This week's 5-Foot Theatre is about a how to put together an Uber-Folio, or as I personally call it, a "Go-Binder." Want to be ready to jump in and help an event organizer out? Have a look at this one.
