I enjoyed that episode quite a bit. Felt like a classic SHIELD story with the SHIELD vs HYDRA spy action.

I also enjoyed this one a lot.

I enjoyed the episode last night. They almost had me with...

Spoiler:
Not-Talbot revealed as Hydra. Sneaky. I'm enjoying the Colson-Talbot dynamic.

Spoiler:
I feel sorry for the brainwashed agent.

I hate saying this but while the show is ok, I feel they are slowly losing me... the vibe is just different somehow. I would like the show better if they would progress the story faster and get somewhere with those damn alien writings

Actually, I am also having a problem with how blatant that Hydra is being. Remember, they are no more welcome then S.H.I.E.L.D. after the events of Captain America: The Winter Solder.

Yes, Dr. Whitehall's compnay is a Hydra front - not a problem. But, even so, the Hydra symbol should not be stamped on everything.

Yeah you would think Hydra would be fairly easy for governments to locate with all the recruitment they do.

Not just that.

An organization that was able to remain so hidden for 70 years that even Nick Fury could not see them within S.H.I.E.L.D., should be better at being subtle.

any thought as to this?

They call it an alien equasion...but I thought in might be 'electronics' employing quantum interference between atoms.

Sovereign Court

I think that hydra is done with being subtle.

They are still criminals in the eyes of most Governments.

In world: maybe their relieved to not have to remain hidden, can show the world who they really are, or are excited about the opportunity to be blatant after 7 decades of being subtle.

Out of world: it helps the TV show to have a recognizable antagonist because casual viewers like to have "good guys" and "bad guys" that are relatively easy to identify. Too many "who's the good guy/bad guy again?" switcharoos week-to-week is confusing and off-putting and can lead to confusion in the presence of missed episodes. Too much subtlety or comicbookiness might turn off the general viewing audience.

Those are just some ideas off the top of my head.

Maybe the hydra logo transforms into some other logo when non hydra are present.

Yeah, I chalk a lot of it up to TV-shorthand. Same way that even though vampires on Buffy the Vampire Slayer could appear human if they chose, all the unnamed vamps walked around looking monstrous all the time so the viewer could readily ID them as badguys.

It does get a little silly at times, though.

Well Hydra in the comics was even more obvious. I mean skull and tentacle tanks?

More like beloved whedon tropes.

The interesting thing is that scrawling that alien garbage on something appears to impart fire resistance 30 to the object in question

I liked this episode quite a bit.

Spoiler:
Mockingbird was great.

yeah, they're finally making some headway and the Son of Coul has finally grown a pair

Yeah. Raina had no idea how to deal with him not giving in to her.

I think that is part of why the theory appeared.

But it does fit the facts.

  • Skye remains unaffected by the GH-235 formula.
  • Much has been made about some hidden power she has within her.
  • Since the MCU cannot use the word "mutant," using the Inhumans allows similar characters.
  • It allows Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to tie into the wildly successful Guardians of the Galaxy by building on the introduction of the Kree in that film.

  • My one concern about the Maximus the Mad theory is that the Inhumans apparently are being developed as a theatrical movie, so I don't think they would be introduced in AoS.

on Io9, there was lots of speculation that he might be this guy, which would mean Skye would actually be this superhero

Some people also posited her and her father might be associated with the Deviants, which might explain the rumors of Skye's village being destroyed by "monsters".

    Sovereign Court

then why is she understanding the alien garbage scratched by the Son of Coul?

Wow thanks this fits almost perfectly. Almost... if they tie this together with the inhumans (making her and her father inhumans) then I would hate to be in the city when Skye is subjected to the Terrigen mist.

I'm willing to bet that Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch will be recast as Inhumans in Avengers 2.

I can't find Skye hot. Her expression is just so...vacant.

I'm not sure if that's because the actress is dumb or she's just really good at portraying how witless Skye is.

    But Skye... SHE'S SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!

That's my favorite theory so far, as Lord Fyre posted above... since the MCU cannot utter the word "mutant" anymore, they probably can still say "genetically modified human" or "half-alien" at first, but as the story will move forward, classify them as "inhuman"

That's funny, because I don't find Ming-Na Wen attractive at all. She's just sort of "meh" to me.

    Beauty is subjective.

Didn't Winter Soldier reveal that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are the result of experimentation with the unspecified infinity gem in Loki's staff? granted I suppose that could "activate" the inhuman genes...

I find Skye hot and Simmons as well, Ming-Na is good looking for her age.

Well, she is a woman, not a girl. Different kind of sexy.

Further proof that MCU may be embracing inhumans:
    New Inhuman Comic

"The Inhumans have seen in increased profile at Marvel lately, following the detonation of the Terrigen Bomb at the end of Infinity, which has seen the Inhumans numbers grow and spread. There have been many rumors that Marvel Studios may be planning an Inhumans film."

That was my understanding as well, MMCJawa. Which isn't to say they can't be Inhumans, but it'd be weird to introduce them as unaugmented Inhumans without introducing the MCU equivalent of the Terrigen Mists. Though if they want to use Inhuman instead of mutant, that'd probably the easiest way. Heck, they're already using the word "gifted" as a placeholder. Just slot in the word "Inhuman," and you're good to go.

    Sovereign Court

The Terrigen Mists are weird as heck. I don't truly understand their origin and how they work to be honest, and I've been in comics for a while. All I know (I think) is that the Inhumans were a Kree experiment to begin with, so if the MCU somehow links them to the Kree without the darn "mists" I'll be fine.

Must happen next Monday in Australia. What was the episode with mockingbird?

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16

    Lord Fyre, I presume that

    Spoiler:
S.H.I.E.L.D. could have transported Ward unconscious if they'd so chosen, or with some sort of "move more than 10 feet away from this sensor and the explosive ankle restraints blow." Or, you know, anything other than handcuffs and a guard way too close for firearms.

So, I'm assuming they're tracking him.

It will be interesting to see how the bad guys align against Our Team.
