'cult of the walking god'

ive recently made a character who's had an unfortunate turn of events.

After finding out his mother was a mass murderer (horrible i know) he went on a drunken bout for a couple days and while in this state was asked if he could be helped.

He replied 'it would take a miracle'

The man told my character, 'Cael', that his god could grant him that.

Anyway he asked that his memory of his family and what he'd just learned be erased, and the cultist agreed. He took his memory (all of it) and sent him to a camp where they attempted to brainwash him in the favor of their 'mortal god'.

Being a barbarian they had used him as an enforcer of their faith for months until they recently sent him away to spread the word of their god.
Trusting him to do so.

Cael, may not remember his past but he still has strong feelings against slavery or feeling that he is not free.

Now he is out, and glad, but im not sure how to get him away from them in a way that makes sense with the storyline.

He does not remember where anything is, who his family is, or anything before the camp. He was sent into a place were that 'religion' is forbidden, and im kind-of stuck.

Any advice?
