I have been talking to some of my friends about a new campaign and we need a rogue type class and I would like to turn it into a RMA as soon as I could.

Would a Fetchling Ninja be a good way to do it? You'd get +2 to Dex and Cha which is what you would use both as a Ninja and RMA as well as starting out in light armor which is what you are restricted to as a RMA anyways. It would let me fill the rogue role in our group as well as having the sneak attack bonus from both ninja and RMA continue to work together.

Little question: did you try to convince your GM that you can finesse the "sawtooth blades"? It simplifies SOOO much. I've been working on a build myself. Fetchling would be a decent choice, although I'm fond of the hobgoblins myself (+ dex & con, bonus to stealth, easy exotc weapon proficiency through it's "rogue" favored class bonus).

I am pretty sure the GM would be ok with using sawtooth sabres as finesse weapons as that is how they used to be listed.

If the classes don't change much from the ACG playtest, Duelist with that slashing grace feat could be a good option, even just as a dip.

It is not vital to have finessable sabres as long as your point buy is high. With 25 pb you can have high Str, Dex and Cha and dumo only Wis. With 20 pb you can still do it by entering with Ranger. With anything less (or if you do not want ranger) you need finessable sabres though.

My only issue is that the best Dex fighters are the ones that use Dervish Dance, so you will end less optimal than them.

I have to ask as an update:

With the Inner Seas Combat giving the following to Rangers that follow Achaekek:

Whenever a Ranger can choose a combat style feat, they can pick from the following list:

Double slice
Exotic weapon proficiency (sawtooth sabre)
two weapon feint
two weapon fighting

at 6th level adds Improved Two Weapon Feint and Two Weapon defense to the list

at 10th level adds Greater Two Weapon Fighting and Two Weapon Rend to the list

Would this really put Ranger ahead as the best base class to go into the RMA prestige class? It seems like it really fits the mold.

Well, the fact that you can nab ITWFeint at 6 is kinda nice (without having TWFeint even).

I wonder if a Slayer can take those. If he can, then it's probably the best for the job.

I also have wondered how the new classes would do as the base class for several prestige classes, RMA in particular.

Slayer is probably better, because you can nab Imp Two Weapon Feint and get some extra sneak damage in there.

Getting Imp Two-Weapon Feint is really nice. It's a shame you don't get Imp Two-Weapon Fighting as an option for whatever silly reason. Ruins the Combat Style for me.
