From the Paizo Preview Banquet:

We know the overall title of the AP is "The Mummy's Mask".

The country is clearly Osirion.

Strange hints about Stargate style flying pyramids have been mentioned by attendees of the banquet.

Authors currently undisclosed.

His caption reads: "Flying pyramids and alien invaders. Stargates?"

Bear in mind, we don't know what was said to engender that remark, so we still know very little.

I assume Aucturn is in alignment with Golarion for this one, so maybe some Distant Worlds coming in.

I like that we get some Osirion love but flying pyramids, space invaders, and stargates, sounds really interesting now.

Please give us the Pathfinder equivalent to Staff weapons, Zat guns, and/or Ribbon devices!

Liberty's Edge

Huh. I keep waiting for the underwater/aboleth one. But I guess Egypt is pretty neat. Not interesting enough to push out Skull & Shackles or Kingmaker on my play agenda but I can see some people getting excited.

And I thought Mikaze went crazy for the one-two punch of Chronicle of the Righteous and Champions of Purity. ; )

I am really excited about what feels to be an absolute classic setting for the game! I just ran through a converted Desert of Desolation (the original, not the FR compiled version). It was very well received by my players, and I now will have a problem deciding which campaign to run after my Skull & Shackles/Razor Coast/Freeport mash up campaign.

But it is a nice problem to have. :-)

+1 on the YES! :)

The Mummy's Mask? I seem to be vaguely recalling something involving Osirion and Masks...

Hmmm....designing characters and scenarios from the movies for this AP...

Erik mentioned the flying pyramids and alien invaders. Somebody from the audience asked about stargates, and Erik answered that you'd have to ask Rob McCreary about that.

Google books?

Hmm. They also list mummy's mask:pawns, which is not terribly surprising and perhaps suggests the titles can be relied on.

No authors listed though, unfortunately.

I am really looking forward to this one.

Is it to early to say who the next new iconic for this is ?

Sounds awesome.

In a thread some time ago someone speculated that the AP after Wrath would be Osirion, and I said back in the time that I believe we are due for a new urban campaign, because we haven't had one in a LONG while, and we had a lot of "travel this non-western-fantasy setting" plots. I guess this is Paizo continuing the trend. Not that I'm complaining :)

Though, it would be nice to see a non-western-fantasy setting urban campaign.

That was me, although I definitely wasn't the first to put out the idea that Paizo might one day do an Osirion AP.

Beyond what I said in that post as reasoning for the time being right, I noticed the trend that they tend to do about two Avistan-based APs for every Garund-based AP they do, so it seemed like we were due for a Garund AP and Osirion seemed like the most likely choice.

And from this day forth, I will never again underestimate the potency of telling the future with geography :)

EDIT: really, though, nice call.

Do we know or could one of the developers confirm if the characters will travel to another world? Man, that would be sweet in a setting like this.

They also announced the authors of the books at the AP seminar. Crystal Frasier is doing book 2. I'm excited to see book one due to the author, but I'll let them reveal themselves, if they so please.

Riggler's titles are correct.

Sovereign Court

I hope the Aucturn Enigma is in there.

Were these in City of the Fallen Sky?

If so, they were hella cool.

That would be great!! I love the idea of ancient civilizations leaving behind evidence showing a peerless knowledge about astronomy. Aliens and other planets seem like a perfect fit for this AP!

I also wonder if Paizo would be willing to up the level of traps in this AP? I've always been a fan of the old-school dungeons that emphasize traps and puzzles, and I was hoping that Shattered Star would deliver on this. But Egyptian-style tombs would be perfect for such a conceit! I understand that might not be everyone's cup of tea... Perhaps Paizo would consider a "hard" mode for the APs, where 2 versions of traps are included? Purleeze? :D

Oh my God, oh my God, they're really doing it.

They're really doing a Dominion of the Black AP based on the Aucturn Enigma and the countdown clock.

Just checked my novel, they are indeed featured in City of Fallen Sky.

“Obelisks,” Ernst said. “ The Slave Trenches of

thousands, most in poor repair, each said to imprison
an elemental spirit. The whole area is a massive set of
earthworks built by Pharaoh Hakotep I.”
“Why?” Alaeron said.
Ernst shrugged. “If anyone knows, they’ve never told

“So Jaya says.”
“My mother told me about this field of obelisks,”
Jaya said. “She traveled among them when she left her..

Hmmmm... not feeling it yet. I'll guess I'll have to wait and see how it turns out. The last Garund themed APs (Serpent's Skull, Skull & Shackles) were really not my kind of thing, either.

Robert Brookes wrote:

Hate to play devil's advocate, but so far there's no indication this will be the focus of the AP. Osirion has a lot of AP potential after all, and the Dominion of the Black/Aucturn Enigma are only one facet that could potentially be explored. I certainly hope they're at least somewhat involved though.

*Edit: After reading that PF Wiki about the Slave Trenches, I'm cautiously optimistic we'll learn more about the Aucturn Enigma. There's apparently a Countdown Clock in there.

Actually, the banquet at paizocon confirmed aliens, so it's really not a far leap to go

That's fantastic news. Crystal Frasier has a talent for writing adventures, and in my opinion she deserves an adventure path installment.

Excellent! Another very talented game designer. It's good to see two very talented women in amongst the adventure path freelancers.

Didn't they also say something about flying pyramids and stargate?

Odraude wrote:

Again I really hope it is the Dominion of the Black. But aliens have shown up in APs before, and they come in a wide variety. I'd be genuinelly ticked if this wasn't the Aucturn Engima AP, but I'll wait for the confirmation before going nuts.

Stargate was a joke.

Mr. Groves is writing the first book in the AP. Unfortunately, I don't recall the rest. Too much applause at Crystal Frasier being mentioned.

That makes me a sad panda :(

Always be suspicious when I don't post at great length. I remember one time I didn't say anything about Irrisen, prior to Reign of Winter being announced. Cheapy goes and posts a wisecrack, "That's strange, Jim Groves is oddly silent." I shot a note to Adam Daigle and we were like "That SOB, Cheapy."

In fact, my fellow Paizoans, I am working on this right this very second. Taking a little break. No more posting after this for the rest of the day.

I can't say anything, one way or another. That is Rob McCreary's purview, or his designee.
