How to get Reach from a weapon without reach?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Is there a way to give a weapon reach when it doesn't have reach? aside from Enlarge Person and Lunge

Level 4 magus.

Sovereign gluing it to the end of a quarterstaff and taking exotic weapon proficiency (blank on a stick)?

Well, one idea that comes to mind is that you get a Small-sized Two-Handed Reach weapon, which counts as a One-handed weapon with Reach (at a -2 penalty), leaving the other hand open (Dual Wielding Small Spears would be very sweet).

**Edit** Realized the point of the thread. Outside of those two concepts, there really isn't much. Besides, Lunge is a great feat, and Enlarge Person is a good spell, so these methods are really nice.

There's the whip. If you can get away with semantic torture, the Scorpion Whip can be read as having regular reach.

There was a dwarf weapon called Dorn Dergar / Chain Flail, you can use it with or without reach.

The Lunge feat is the best option, of course, but it needs BAB 6+

The chain flail is a two handed, no use for a magus. So, run an hexcrafter and get prehenshile hairs :D

Aegis customization available at lv7. It's a 3-pointer.
Combine with Powerful Build and Extra Arms for extra fun

Ehm.... that0s a summoner option. He's a magus...

Well there is the Combat Patrol feat. If I am reading this right, then at the cost of a full round action, it expands your reach for threatened squares by 5 feet for every 5 BAB you have (as in +20 at bab 20, making a total of 25 for most weapons).

You may move in order to make these attacks (the increase in threatened squares does not change your sword in a range weapon here), but your movement before your next turn does not exceed your speed. This means that a reach weapon is not necessarily required, although preferred to save movement.

Anyway, this feat seems like a nice complement to lunge, since it allows you expanded reach for attacks off of your turn while lunge gives you more reach on your turn. Obviously you can't use both at once, but the options are nice. Without a reach weapon, you are a circle of smack down 55' wide (25 on each side of you, and your square in the middle)at level 20, and with a reach weapon you make a circle 65' wide. Maybe throw in enlarge person to make it even wider.

I suppose you could create a pole with a special fixture at the end to securely attach a light weapon like a magical dagger, turning it into a magical spear-like weapon.

If you can attach a bayonet to a crossbow, I'm sure attaching a magical dagger to a specially made shaft and is not much of a stretch.

Longarm Bracers, but they're too limited (and pricey) to be worth it at your level.

Aegis was what I was thinking actually, and no one said multiclassing was not an option. Just tossing an option out there. It's true that summoner synthesist could be doing that too eh?
