The armor option, does that mean one type like light, medium, heavy, or a specific suit like studded leather, etc. Compared to the regular armor expert trait, that kind of sucks if it's the one specific suit kind. And since trait bonuses don't stack you couldn't take both. Right?

im pretty sure its the first, not having the exact wording in front of me at the moment but id go with the first assumption. The coolest part im typing this on my phone while at the zoo with my 2 year old. Technology rules!
I did go back and check the Player's guide and yes it is Armor type (light, medium or heavy) and not a specific type (like studded leather, padded etc.) hope this helps you:)
