Slow Play, who does it and why?

I'm just curious. I'm playing 6th level slow for Ksenia because a) I wanted to apply my GM credit from Broken Chains to her and b) I didn't want to lose an entire level doing so. If I have to play an iconic next weekend for Fangwood keep, I'll want to take the slow advancement for the same reason.

So that's two reasons, GM credit and playing an iconic. Anyone else?

I have not taken the slow path since I first started PFS. I played my first few sessions without my wife due to her traveling and having some grad-school classes.

Once she started playing PFS as well, I went slow path and it allowed her to catch up to me level-wise so that we could then stay on track with each other.

Since then, though, we just haven't worried about it very much, if one of us winds up a level or so ahead of the other on a given character.

I have a character whose really fun/effective level range is going to be 3-5, maybe 6th level, and after that in the 7-11 games, will be underpowered because of my choices. So starting at level 4 I'll be slow playing them.

Likewise, since I have already played Eyes of the Ten - any character of mine that I like to play, will probably start playing low at 10th or 11th level.

I already have a level 15 and a 12, now I have two more 10th level characters that I find are incredibly fun to play. I switched them both to slow and will probably continue them on slow through 11th level, I don't want or need to race them to 12th level unless another Seeker arc of scenarios is released.

I got three characters on slow track:

For my -1 character I put "too much" GM credit on her, so I slowed her on 10-11 to get to actually play her more.

For my -6, same as Matthew I wanted to apply a chronicle sheet from an AP to her, but didn't want to take away from my time playing her, so she got slowed for that one level where the AP sheet applied.

For my -9, I was the lucky winner of the Aspis Agent boon from GenCon that allows me to take levels in the Aspis Agent PrC. That is such a cool concept, that I have GM credited her to level 6 (first level of Aspis Agent) and she will probably be slow tracked forever, so she lasts as long as possbile :)

I'm planning on doing this with my sorcerer

It seemed like after playing till level 7 or so on my druid, when his entire build clicked and did everything i wanted him to, all of a sudden BOOM, he was retired.

At level 8, Fabrizio will be casting heightened Daylight spells for free on people. The more games he plays in, the more people get a light rock that says pbthththts to deeper darkness.

GM Credit baby, level 10, played 5 times total. Going to slow play both 10th and 11th level.

That way I can actually play him 12 more times.

2 above for two different reasons.
I added my early GM credits to a character and felt I missed level 3, so slowed level 4. I want to play a dragon disciple, so GM cred until level 7, probably slow after that.

Heightened continual flame I hope - daylight doesn't last that long.

I had a cleric who create them whenever people wanted them, though I made them pay the50gp material cost, heighten to 5th level before I stopped playing him because he only provide healing and kept getting people killed.

Well, I've spoken with others about slow progression. In my case, it would have to be for the special swag that may all be piled up at one level of play.

For others, it's because they are most effective at that level and just are enjoying the ever living hell out of their character <33

I've got a lot of great backstory and personality built up for the next character I'm planning, so I'm super excited to get in as many games as I can.

I predict it will be my first slow progression toon.

The Exchange

Worked backwards... wanted to play the season 4 finale, wanted to fit in ruby phoenix, wanted to fit in some of the higher level scenarios like red harvester and storval stairs, and we had a group to do felnight queen... all around there was too much good stuff to do before eyes to not slow track 10-12.

We had a super optimized group and really wanted to get them all together for one last go at paizocon for waking rune to challenge our vc, so that was a lot of it.

5/5

Mostly same as above - GM Credit and wanting to enjoy the 'good' levels of characters.

3/5

In my local area not many people are high level. So I so play that character at cons so I can play the high levels befor eretiring.
