So, when a player advances through levels, he gains the following bonuses at the accompanied levels:

+1 to an attribute: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20
+1 feat: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19

This question is more in regards to feat, but I'd like to clarify each. If a player has an animal companion (Druid, Cavalier, Ranger, etc.), does the animal companion gain these same bonuses (attributes & feats) when they reach the equivalent levels? Or is this solely based on the chart presented for Animal Companion level advancement in the Core Rulebook in the Druid section?

The chart is based on when the animal companion gets new HD, which is at different rate than when PC's do.


The chart for animal companion growth rate is listed underneath druids. They get a stat increase at a slower rate, their BAB is equal to a druid of the same level, and their HD and feats are also decreased (ie 4 feats at level 11).

Animal Companions only actually advance to 12 hit dice. They get their bonuses at the appropriate Hit Die advancement (every 4th Hit Die for stat advancement), so you go off what is presented on the table for them.
