I actually haven't applied any convention boons to my characters. Granted, I've only actually been to one convention, but it doesn't seem like something I'd do often enough and get things cool enough for me to actually actively seek them out.
In fact, I just realized that I rarely even look at the boons and items I get on chronicles...

It's too much cheese when you start thinking you're from Iuz or Keoland (sorry... had to throw the Living Greyhawk reference in...).
Seriously, I don't think they're any limit, but some boons are going to be better for some characters than others, and some are good for anyone.
For example , I'm putting a certain GenCon boon (*cough* Researcher *cough*) on my in-the-planning-stages Thassilonian specialist wizard (that access comes from a chronicle boon*).
... but I wouldn't put the Mendev Weapon Training boon on her.
I have other boons that I may put on her as well (Extra Trait for instance).
I find nothing wrong with doing what makes sense for your character and what helps make your character do their job (whatever it is) well.
Granted, I have been accused of power gaming with characters that I don't think are optimized. Ok... except for my Gunslinger/Magus, who I did create as a OMGs machine, but there's a story behind that.
I've come to find out that my definition of "a character able to do their job" is set at a higher minimum level of character effectiveness than those who complain that I'm a power gamer.

My nagaji battle oracle has a race boon, the *redacted* boon from *redacted*, and a boon to get an extra trait from the Dragon Empires Primer, all at character creation. He also picked up the Lantern Lodge boon from Way of the Kirin, though that one's on a scenario, not a boon-specific chronicle, it's a nice bonus. That's the most I have on one PC, I think.

So is it "Cheesy" that I have a character with 4 chronicle sheets and only 1 xp?
I gave my Varisian Pilgrim Cleric, Varisian Caravaner, Shoanti Quah-Friend and Missing Mentor to flesh out his back story as a wandering Varisian Cleric of Desna.
Psh. 4 sheets is nothing. I'm up to 10 with 1 xp on my -11.
