I think I've only seen 1 elf. Con is everyone's second favorite stat, and not many people need both int and dex.and I have seen a lot of elves - after human, perhaps the most common race for PCs I've seen...
CON is my... 4th? maybe 5th favorite stat. Seldom above 10, never above 14. Dex is my 2nd favorite stat.
And that's what makes this game so much fun. Different views for different people.
Indeed. One of my favorite characters to play is a full-elf bloodrager with a 14 Con. She had a 12 up until I got the belt of physical might. And yes, yes she died a lot.

Half-Elves are probably the most common at my usual haunt. I think I've seen one halfling and one kitsune, and no Nagaji as of yet.
Only one person really plays gnomes because they love their special brand of insanity. Otherwise our group is all too aware of how Paizo loves to pull off the cheap kills, and so most people avoid elves and tengu. The only race with slow move speed that people play are dwarves, because of decent stats, and the fact that GMing styles combined with how PFS scenario maps are often laid out, would totally bone anything relying on stealth anyway.

I tend to default to human. That said, I have about 50% non human characters.
It comes down to background. If race is important to the characters background they become the needed race.
For example, my Bone Oracle was Zypus' girlfriend (they met at the Opera) and was human. The fact that she was Zypus' girlfriend was "interesting" enough fluff for her I didn't even think of another race, though it would work.
On the other hand, my demon spawned tiefling fighter's parents are clerics of Sheyln. How demon spawned and (devout and beloved) Sheylnite preacher's daughter go together are central to the character.

- I also seek to roughly emulate one of the Trolls from Homestuck, likely using Tiefling if I can snag a boon, Half Orc if I can't. Not sure which one yet.
