Settlement Name: Golgotha
Settlement Alignment: L/N
Tax Rate: 8.0 - 10.0%
Settlement Votes: Oligarchy
Membership Policy: Approved

Sponsored Charter Companies:
House Karnath (Political)
Keepers of Golgotha (Settlement Administration)
Knights of the Crimson Blade (Formal Military)
Runewalker Cartel (Trade and Crafting)

Role: To provide source content for players as well as to advance the agendas of our citizens.

Internal Leadership Structure:
Lord Regent (Settlement Executive)
Viscount (Charter Company Executive)
Templar (Officer)
Citizen (Member)

What are the goals of the Order of the Crimson Guard:
To provide a role play environment for players seeking to experience alternate methods of play. In addition we wish to establish a sanctuary zone free from grief and judgement of the more noble settlements.

What is Golgotha:
Golgotha is to be our lasting testament for the community of Pathfinder Online, we will establish a strong society that will act as a home for our respective charter companies. We will model the settlement off of the historic city of Constantinople, with a complex system in place to become a cultural focal point, a major trading hub, and a symbol of freedom from persecution throughout Pathfinder Online.

What happened to us:
After much deliberation our gaming community has decided to shift gears into a more fulfilling operation. We will hope to provide an alternative play style to members of the pathfinder community.

Deacon,

Can you elaborate on "provide an alternative play style"?

Goblin Squad Member

Got you listed, Deacon Wulf. Let me know if you would like a custom description, too.

Goblin Squad Member

I appreciate it Nihimon

Goblin Squad Member

Hobs,
I apologize for the wait for this answer, but it was necessary in order to not misrepresent our cause.

By alternate styles what we are truely trying to communicate is the fact that the Cheliaxian Ideal is a strong possibility, withought the honorific title of good, players can persue a different aspect of the game that strictly good societies will not be able to experience, however, maintaing a lawful structure secures stability of the community.

Goblin Squad Member

Sounds interesting. I look forward to seeing you flesh out your idea.

Goblin Squad Member

Does this mean you mean to pursue a LE way of life? There has been talk of people trying to start CE settlements, which I will support for the Evil aspect. But as an assassin, I will more then likely be LE, and on the lookout for settlement that may offer me training.

Goblin Squad Member

I believe Lawful Neutral, but being accepting of Lawful Evil is the purpose here. Akin to the larger Hellknight organization which is Lawful Neutral as a whole but happily accepts a significant number of Lawful Evil members.

Goblin Squad Member

Aww. With all the talk of a CE settlement trying to form, I'm waiting for the Tyrant. The Big LE guys to come and start a settlement, then Expand. They'll be the true "bad guys" of PFO in my opinion. Yes people like Bluddwolf and the UNC and Alku Leon with The Bloody Hand (with myself :D) will bring great content to the game and are a much needed aspect. But I feel we are missing the Tyrant. Most of the "Evils" we have (that have announced themselves anyway) plan on playing the Mercenary, Assassin, or Bandits. No "Overlords", self proclaimed "Gods" or Super power hungry "Warmongers"

Dark Archive Goblin Squad Member

Tigari to be honest, the greatest adversaries to the players wanting to create themselves as "Tyrant lord", or "God king" is the base that they will be a focal target for the rest of the community, opening themselves up for raiding, and being unable to advance their agenda for the simple fact that they are fending off adventure parties trying to thwart an evil overlord, we have a contingent of members meeting regularly going over the entirety of the possibilities currently advertised in this game, and to that end making an obvious target would be a miserable experience unless the orginization becomes established first.

For now, to get back on topic, by no means will we stall the progress of any of our members from gaining power, in fact it is encouraged for our members to be... aggressive in their vies for power.

We need a LE settlement in the Spirit of Asmodeus, like the Cheliaxians. The advantage here is that it is a lawful that does not oppose good per se, but believes good is simply too naive to fully understand the consequences of chaos.

Before the gods allowed the souls to have choice, Asmodeus got along swimmingly with the other gods. The rift of ideologies arose as more and more insisted on allowing souls to choose where to go after death.

And even with the rift, Asmodeus ultimately chose to follow the path of patience.

From the Book of the Damned Vol 1 - Princes of Darkness: (this takes place after Asmodeus slew his twin brother for introducing the idea of free will among mortals to the rest of the gods)

Quote:

It was Sarenrae who discovered the wounded and brooding Asmodeus, and in that moment of fury the goddess discovered something beyond order and chaos—her own sense of right and wrong. Sarenrae leveled her burning sword at the murderer, demanding he yield. With a blink, Asmodeus awoke and quenched the goddess’s blade, taking her by the throat. Looking deep within her, he saw fear, and insignificance, and weakness, but also the truth of the age. And as the goddess prepared to join her master, she was shocked to feel Asmodeus release and address her.

“Your war is won, Pale Orphan. I leave all of this to you and your ilk. But you will see me again, for I alone remain to guard the old truths. And I will wait for the age when all you have wrought and all for which you have fought turns to sweep you away. Then all of you will see what I have lost, and what I will make mine again.”

Good settlements need not fear a truly Asmodean LE settlement. Such a settlement would happily help them in crushing chaotic enemies. Just don't expect to like their methods.

Blaeringr, as always I am impressed at your knowledge. At no point are we encouraging any member of our society to stray away from evil it may even have certain ascertainable benefits and job opportunities, as well as entertainment value that more self sacrificing players just wont understand. That being said we will enforce value in both good and evil deeds, the main view in Golgotha will not be how you achieved your goal, just what you have accomplished.

Even alternate schools of magic will be looked at in a positive lights (yes we mean necromancy and diabolistic magic) and we plan to have trainers in a variety of different aspects that will be hard pressed to find in a Good aligned society, but do not come to Golgatha looking for bleak towers and shackled slaves, the Keepers of the city would never allow such eye soars to be on the streets.

It is true that the majority of our founding members have backgrounds from the US armed forces, but there will be much enjoyment to be had by casual gamers, like myself who simply want to relax and revel in what society has to offer.

Should you fall into the loving embrace of hell may they know you by name.

Thanks. I DMed a game where the players took an interest in diablerie and had to take a crash course in Pathfinder's planar underworld.

The charter is looking good and I wish you the best. Some questions:

Is "Crimson Guard" a gaming community with guilds in several games?
Do you have a website?
Are you exclusively Americans or are you international?
Are you looking for recruits to join Crimson Guard or looking for companies to join your settlement project?

The simple answer:

The "Crimson Guard" is the Pathfinder Online chapter of Neverboard Gaming.
We are currently reevaluating our website, in order to address the many changes we have undergone recently. Neverboard Gaming does not have a website at this time, but due to interest in the commercial sector this is likely to change within the next few months. They operate mostly off the old style (Emails, conference calls, and bulletins).

Current Games with Neverboard Involvement:
World of Warcraft
League of Legends
Minecraft
Everquest (1 and 2)
Starcraft 2
Diablo 3
Smite

As it stands now, the majority of our membership is American, but due to the lingual skills of said membership and our willingness to culturally diversify, we are wanting to become international. We have ties to some Korean gaming groups and a merger is a possibility in the near future as their interest in Pathfinder Online grows (because we can't stop talking about it.)

We have opened enrollment for individuals seeking to join a charter company or for charter companies to seek sponsorship within Golgotha.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Dark Archive Goblin Squad Member

We plan on open having sit downs with both individuals and charter companies shortly, if you would like us to hasten the process of getting to you, please contact me.

Goblin Squad Member

After a lengthy political process, Golgotha is considering adding anothrr charter company into the mix. Judging interest we are considering the possibility of a necromancers cabbal.

It is about freaking time for some LE around this joint!

Dark Archive Goblin Squad Member

I assure everyone we will not simply be evil for the sake of evil, if anything we would like to be a positive influence on the community, perhaps we could even have roll play "Incursions" with some of the members of other communities, should they need a "Bad Guy," It would be highly entertaining to have situations where the company leaders set up conflicts for their orginizations (in good fun of course) where they can fight villans they deserve, or even long campaigns where it is not clearly obvious who the antagonist is until a series of quests is completed.

Goblin Squad Member

Two more companies in the planning stages.
Karnathi Immortals: the personal guard for house karnath and our elite assassin/military unit
The Crimson covenant: necromany/diabolist cabal

Goblin Squad Member

Dotting for interest in your settlement and more specifically your Runewalker Cartel. I'm looking to play a LN or N merchant who plays by the rules and makes gains off the "good vs evil" fight. In the original post you describe your settlement as a "symbol of freedom from persecution throughout Pathfinder Online", yet later declare you have shifted towards LE. Is this settlement still intended to be a symbol of freedom, or has your vision of it changed?

In either case, I'm interested in at least learning more. Has a website or forum yet been established, or should I communicate further with you in another way?

Goblin Squad Member

Your job may be easier than you think Shane. So far we have no plans to restrict the flow of goods going to and coming from Golgotha or Nostramo. Really unless you are transporting slaves or working for UNC I don't foresee much of a problem at the moment.

Goblin Squad Member

When you say "working for UNC", does that include trading with them? You should consider this carefully, as I won't be the first merchant who'll ask you whether you strictly disallow trading with your wartime enemies.

Goblin Squad Member

Shane Gifford wrote:

Currently what I mean is if you are either a tagged or untagged member of UNC, or are in their employ.

I'm generally not in favor of penalizing neutral traders for doing dealing with our enemies but I think it's premature to give any hard statement on the matter as I'm sure there may be split opinions on it and we are missing a lot of details on how things may work in-game.

Goblin Squad Member

Makes good sense. If you get your way, I look forward to doing business. :)

Goblin Squad Member

@ Shane,

The UnNamed Company has no plans of employing an company or individual into our service. We hire ourselves out, to the highest bidder, as Mercenary Bandits and Assassins.

The only way you be "tagged" as a member of the UNC, is by being a member of the UNC. I don't know what Andius means by an "Untagged Member" of the UNC?

What it sounds like to me is just another one of Andius', Neutral Good (WTF????),veiled threats, to try to control who you do business with.

Goblin Squad Member

Bluddwolf wrote:

I got the impression he meant something like "known spy".

Having an UnNamed Known Spy would be an oxymoron. Besides, the UnNamed Company does not employ any spies. That doesn't mean we don't get secrets handed to us, we just don't solicit or pay for the information.

Goblin Squad Member

Really pretty simple actually. It's common practice in most MMOs to drop clan affiliation in order to avoid wars / notice, or to never tag up in the first place. But they continue working for their group. We'll maintain a list of unflagged affiliates of organizations when we find them out, and if hostilities break out, exile them along with their group.

Dark Archive Goblin Squad Member

Shane, you are always free to contact Golgotha through either Deacon Wulf or myself.

I am the current "Keeper" meaning that as of now I handle much of the cities internal mechinations.

As for personal freedom, yes that is something that we maintain, as well as encourage gains of power by most means, being lawful does not limit these means as much as ensure we do not become a blight on the community, in fact being Lawful Evil will only help us ensure freedom as long as the ends justify the means.

We are not bad, we simply use methods others may see as morally incorrect, but the results are what we care about. Should a mad dog appear within our ranks we will happily end his current state of existence.

But I will assure you we will respect the laws of each society as long as we are within their domain, and we hope for the same courtesy.

Hopefully, the loss of influence that dropping membership will cause will make it so disadvantageous to the company concerned that it will be highly discouraged behaviour. Similarly, not joining in the first place will severely restrict the amount of influence a company has to spend. I don't see Golgotha and its associate companies, for example, viewing such behaviour as acceptable; if you leave them in times of trouble, they might just not take you back.

Oh, I'm not concerned about Golgotha. As stated before we got off on this side tangent, we are very likely to allow merchants to bring good from Golgotha into our borders for trade, and export our goods to Golgotha. Depending on the restrictions of entering Golgotha we may do it ourselves too.

Goblin Squad Member

Andius wrote:

C'mon, don't say that! No need to cut out any middle men here! :P

Scheherazade, yeah I wasn't super interested in specific messages in PM's, I just wanted to get more information about the group in the context of lore, stated goals, ideas for laws (making assumptions now, given that we don't know everything we'll be capable of), maybe your ideas for fair tax rates, and so on. It's not a problem if there's no external link with more info, just wanted to ask to make sure. I'll keep an eye on how your settlement fleshes out.

When Golgotha decided its alignment to be LE we wished that it would express what exactly we were attempting to accomplish, but it seems as though it has been misconstrued.

We define ourselves as lawful evil because we will do anything to achieve our goals based on our laws and structure. There will be no moral issue when it comes to how we will accomplish those goals. Our "limiting factor" if we wish to define it as such, will be our structure and laws, not our morals. In that sense, if CE stands in our way, we will crush them. In addition, if LG stands in our way, we will crush them. Evil defines our morality, while lawful will define our structure.

Goblin Squad Member

Informative, and scary! :P Thanks for clearing it up a bit.

In addition: If you would like to find a place within Golgotha for your CC or on an individual basis, you can contact either of the email addresses above in order to discuss the necessary actions.

Goblin Squad Member

For clarification purposes and in an attempt to respond to multiple emails simultaneously, the charter companies above are sanctioned and supported by golgotha. These are hopefully not to be the only options available for citizenship within Golgotha.

We are also wanting to sponcor additional charter companies within the settlement. Individual companies can treat with us to attain sponcorship. In the next few days we will outline a template "treaty" for sponcorship within golgotha.

This post was delivered by the Lord Regent's magical communication device. The phonetic harmony oscilator and numeric excentuater.... or P.H.O.N.E for short.

Goblin Squad Member

The keepers of Golgotha have informed me of a policy change that I have accepted.

Every two weeks Golgotha will plave out a "call to arms" to charter companoes and individuals in an effort to encourage active recruitment. The call to arms will place emphasis on recruitment on the type of Cc/individual being called upon. This operation is aimed at the, as of yet, unaligned.

Call to Arms: Mercenaries
During this period mercenaries will be guided towards CCs aligned with Golgotha. And charter companies seeking sponsorship will receive sanctioning by the Golgothan Royal House. This will curry forward good favor, which in turn will send more Golgothan contracts your way, and citizena will be encouraged to go to your CC with personal contracts.

Goblin Squad Member

The KoG has informed me that the treaty template originally scheduled for release today will be postponed until later this week as we add information obtained from our current negotiations. If you were awaiting this template to begin negotiations for your CC, I encourage you to contact us for the working copy as well as to begin the process.

Let me see what you are working with if you don't mind Deacon.

I will have Scheherazade shoot you a copy as soon as he becomes available again.

Clarification: The Agreement of Sponsorship is for those individuals or CCs that wish to make a home in Golgotha, but would like to remain as a separate entity in organization and duties.

The Offense(s) must be documented and submitted to the House of Commons in a detailed report. Upon failure to reconcile the incident and full investigation by the House of Commons, community property will be divided proportionately based upon historical input. Appeals may be submitted to the House of Nobles within fifteen working days. The House of Nobles will require a majority vote in order to overturn any decision decided upon by the House of Commons. Failure to comply will be considered a hostile act and appropriate action will be taken.
-D) Ascension:
-The city of Golgotha recognizes the autonomy of its sponsored companies. This clause will address if there comes a time when sponsored companies amass equal or greater power and wish to operate autonomously while remaining allies. There are two dignified courses of action:
-A) Empowerment: (Insert) will be escalated into the aristocracy, and as such will have the capability of establishing a Noble House. This option provides more representation within the governing body of the Golgothan Empire as well as the Empire's support if the Noble house wishes to establish a settlement within the Empire. At this time this contract will be renegotiated into an Agreement of Alliance.
-B) Expansion: (Insert) will be supported in established a Royal House. In doing so the Golgothan Empire will aid in the establishment of multiple settlements. At this time renegotiation will take place in the form of a Meta-Kingdom or Meta-Union in which separate states will operate equally and autonomously towards the same goals.

PAX has been a contributing factor to our continued success, and I hope we are able to build strong relations within the game. While our gaming community offers monetary and financial support, it lacks the experience that PAX has to offer when it comes to online gaming. Where their experience excels though, is what will enable us to build a strong community in PFO.
