My 1st character- Barbarian

Advice

Alright so, I've never played Pathfinder before, outside 2-3 quick runs with premade characters. I'm finishing up a character for my 1st campaign, and I was hoping for some advice. We're starting at lvl 5, with D10+10 for stat rolls. This is what I've got so far-

Class- Barbarian

Archetype- Invulnerable Rager

Race- Human

STR- 22
DEX- 18
CON- 20
INT- 16
WIS- 14
CHA- 19

Feats-
Power Attack
Raging Vitality
Extra Rage Power: Animal Fury
Extra Rage Power: Renewed Vigor

Rage Powers-
Reckless Abandon
Animal Fury
Lesser Beast Totem
Renewed Vigor

I'm pretty sure that's all the relevant information. I was hoping for any advice you might be able to offer. I'm pretty sure this build is solid, but there's always room for improvement, right? Thanks for taking the time to look. ^_^

(fyi - Flagged to move thread to Advice)

Certainly it looks a fun and playable character. I'd probably not spend the feat for Renewed Vigor unless you very specifically plan on using it as a bail-out plan if you go "unconscious" (see reckless abandon) while raging.

Could you give some insight as to how you see this barbarian working in combat? Were you looking for a certain flavor or are you just looking to build a combat machine?

For example, I could see him fighting with a reach weapon and using the claw attacks when enemies get too close for comfort. In that case you might trade out Extra Rage Power: Animal Fury for Combat Reflexes and look towards picking up the Come and Get Me rage power at 12th level.

1st of all, thank you, I wasn't sure where to place the thread as this is my 1st post on this site, now I know for future reference. C=

As far as flavor goes, I was looking to make a a barbarian that's more animal than human. Strategy-wise, I want him to do as much damage as possible on his turn, with complete disregard to his AC. I want him to hit hard and move fast.

I had already planned to grab Combat Reflexes and Come and Get Me at later lvls, as they simply seemed too good to pass up.

Animal Fury is simply to add a 2nd attack.

I had planned to use a Greatsword, but the Polearm/Claws idea is interesting, I'll give it some thought. My original reason for the Beast Totem, however, was for the 2nd, and more importantly the 3rd totem powers.

The extra AC from the 2nd could certainly help offset all the reductions I'll be taking, and Pounce works perfect with the strategy I have setup. The ability to run into a group of enemies, use a Power Attack, then activate Come and Get Me? It'll be an explosion of damage, albeit short-lived.

As far as Renewed Vigor goes, you were spot on, it's very much a last resort, as we won't have a healer in the party for a little while.

Thanks again for the help, and I'll make sure to double-check where posts go in the future. ^_^

I think having the polearm as an option is a good idea. You could carry different polearms for different tasks and/or to overcome different damage resistances. Also, it would work well with Come and Get Me when you're facing opponents with reach.

Scarab Sages

Your feat at level 11 should be dazing assault, it works wonders with Come and Get Me, you can effectively end opponents actions by using it. Also dont neglect Superstition rage power, and the best rage power in the game, spell sunder.

Scarab Sages

Also are you allowed to have traits?

If so you should take Heart of the Fields that will give you the ability to ignore fatigue from rage once a day, it is one of the best traits for barbarians and you can take it since you are human.

Yeah I definitely think I'll carry a polearm, thanks for that tip.

Dazing Assault looks interesting, but is 10+BAB going to give me sufficiently high saving throws for it to work consistently? Idk what a decent saving throw would look like, that's why I'm asking.

Spell Sunder and Superstition, while I definitely see the benefit, there's also the fact that it will seriously impair the chances of healing spells actually working on me, so I'm currently pretty firmly against it, unless you know a way around this lack-of-healing.

Yes we're allowed to have traits, but I'm not sure how they work, any chance you could explain it to me? Also, could you maybe explain exactly why the lack of fatigue is so helpful? I mean, I see the obvious benefit, but application-wise I'm a bit lost.

Thanks for the input. ^_^

Have a look at the Monster Creation table.

At 11th lvl a typical monster will have a strong save of 14 and weak save of 10. So respectively a 30% (strong Fort save) or 50% (weak Fort save) chance of dazing a foe. At 20th level it's 35% (strong) and 10% (weak) although foes are much more likely to be immune to dazing.

Suggest Furious Focus over Raging Vitality.

Over 2 years, I doubt they need advice.
