Running Rise of the Runelords as a PFS Sanctioned Event

I am preparing to run Rise of the Runelords for my home group and we were thinking of playing it as a sanctioned event. Now after reading the guidelines posted online, am I right to believe my players can use whatever level appropriate characters they want but save the Chronicle Sheets to apply to other, PFS-legal characters? I ask because I want to run them through the whole AP, not just the sanctioned portions. Any advice would be helpful as this would be this first time I'm doing something like this.

I believe you are correct. You can run the AP with whatever characters you like (PFS-legal or not), and after each "book", you give the player the appropriate chronicle, to apply to a character of her choice.

So, there's 2 ways to play APs for PFS credit.

1: Use PFS characters and play through the specifically sanctioned sections as though it were a module.

2: Play the AP however you want, awarding chronicle sheets at the end of each book that the players can then apply to PFS characters of their choice.
