There should be a couple entries.
10 - 25 dollars for a pdf of the rule book along with the rules docs and all kickstarter pdfs would be fair enough. 25 is really the high end for the pdf entry though, especially given that you're not specifically a publishing company and we're taking a bit of a risk (and we're not profiting as much from stretch goals as we would on say an entirely book focused kickstarter).
Maybe another with the print book and pdfs, (I have no clue what to charge for print books, I haven't bought one in forever) and another for the books + art. Or maybe just have the poster as an add on for options that don't already include it?
If you do the artwork, gazatteer, adventure, and hard cover book (and all pdfs), I can easily see that being 50+.
(I REALLY like the cover poster.)

I agree with LMPjr. Please make levels where I can pick up items without the music. And don't try and force people to get both savage worlds and pathfinder, let them choose one or the other.
+Hojillion.
I may not be sure I want to invest in this for the paper copies, if I'm thinking it's cool, but unsure how my group will receive it. By sticking to the electronic content, I can support it, and come back for the treeware if I change my mind.

This looks expensive to me: $75 for the book + $40 for shipping.
Some comparisons to other kickstarters:
Necropunk $10 for the Pdf
Primeval Thule: $60 +$20 shipping outside US
Thunderscape: $40+$20 shipping outside US
Sovereign stone: $79 for 3 soft cover books +$29 shipping
Spheres of power: $40+$10 shipping
Ultimate Psionics $100 (but this is a 400+ page book) +$20 shipping.
I think you could stand to cut the prices somewhat! Having said that you are 31% funded already, so maybe you should just ignore me!
I think I might wait until it is release generally and see if I can cut the price a little - shipping in particular.

I have been wanting Pathfinder Athas forever. No offense, but I have zero interest in your band in that arena (you may be very good and enjoyable musicians, but that doesn't help me toss dice). I'm really surprised kickstarter allowed this in the game category, because it feels like you're selling music first. Hell, your big mega pledge is to be on your CD.
I would have paid around $20 for the package deal of the rules as a PDF. I am inclined to pay less now.

I plan to keep an eye on it, in case other stuff happens, but I basically wanted the world book, the rule book and the MP3 album. That is pretty much what the Digital $70 is. I have what my price point would be for that amount of material, and it is significantly lower than their pricing.
Added material at that price wouldn't get me to pay $70 though.
Not saying what they price it as bad or anything, just above what I'd be willing to pay. :D

Price is too high and the book is system agnostic. Pass. I can always just rock old Dark Sun material or re-skin my 4e campaign setting if I'm getting material where I have to provide crunch myself.
That, and as much as I respect one may have passion for music making it what seems the defining selling point of this is just pushing the price up on something without adding much value for me.

$70 is the cheapest you can get the PDF of the World Book?
I am completely uninterested in mp3s/music/bells/whistles/gewgaws - as beautiful as it might be.
I am a die-hard Dark Sun fan and very interested in the World Book.
The Gazetteer is too tied to the album to interest me either, regardless of its use as a campaign aid.

I'd actually prefer if it went into an account on trust or something as soon as you backed. I've been caught before with a bunch of kickstarters coming due all at once (that I'd gradually pledged to over the preceeding couple of months). If it left your account when you pledged (but didnt get turned over to the project organiser until the project funded) it would suit me better.
No doubt amazon would be wearing lots of bank fees in those instances where the project didnt fund though, so I doubt such a thing would ever happen. It would also get complicated when you shifted your pledge around (for add-ons or due to tweaks that inevitably happen mid-kickstarter).

This sold me. Now if I can just add "Listener" for 12 bucks for the music I would be perfectly content. I've pledged. :D

Just want to chime in here that if you guys do want to use our psionics rules, we're happy to provide the same compatibility license / logo that we've done for quite a few other 3PPs. Like the PFRPG compatibility license, we don't charge anything for it or require anything in return - we tried to make it as easy as possible to use.
Give me a holler if interested and congrats on the success so far!

International backers, we’re listening! We’re considering several options to make print copies of the Dragon Kings items more affordable and attractive to international backers. International postage is expensive, but there are some things we’re considering for international backers who are getting the printed World Book as part of their rewards. Join the discussion at the Dragon Kings Forums to let us know what you think!

Also, I definitely vote for using Dreamscarred Press's Psionics with the Pathfinder rules for Dragon Kings (I'm already an "Ultimate Psionics" supporter)!
Just wondering but has this issue settled? Are you guys going to use Dreamscarred Press Psionics system or are you going to make one of your own?

Greetings everyone! Thanks ShadowcatX for answering LMPjr007's question.
Great to see that the new pledge levels are working out. We have a few more tweaks coming up soon as well. Watch for an announcement later this week!
Excellent. Now I feel even better supporting this kickstarter!

Dragon Kings fans,
Today we announced a new rebate offer to all international backers. This comes from listening to our current backers and responding to fan requests across the community. We took these suggestions seriously and hope you like the new offer.
The rebate can be taken in one of two options at the end of the Kickstarter for international backers who are receiving the printed World Book as part of their rewards:
1) Cash Rebate Option. International backers get a straight rebate after the Kickstarter concludes ($10 for most, or $20 for Canadian backers)
-OR-
2) Bonus Rebate in Add-Ons Option: International backers can take an additional $10 greater than that amount in add-ons (such as print versions of the PDF rules supplements, miniatures, poster maps or other products).
Also a reminder from last week, we announced three new pledge levels: Digital Gamer, Gamer of Khitus, and Champion Gamer of Khitus. These give potential backers new assortments of products and provide access to the World Book at lower levels.
Please let us know what you think of these new international options. Thank you for all your feedback so far, we appreciate it!

Nice one Raddu :). As an international buyer, I really appreciate the move. Also appreciate the nice long KS duration. I just got a new client with work rolling in nicely. At this rate I'll jump in at the Game Master level in a couple of weeks. Didn't spend all that time with athas.org to miss this opportunity!

That's one way to look at it Weren. Alternatively you could look at it that it raised 24,544 in its first 17 days and only needs another 4,500 in its last 28 days.
Projects slow down in the middle. They have a rush at the beginning and end though. I'd be worried about this not making if we were around 17,000, but at 24,500 I don't think it is conceivable that it won't make.

I'm glad we made it. One thing I think this project has suffered for is the stretch goals. They are really bad.
The first stretch goal (at 125%!) is additional music. Unfortunately, if you look at the number of backers and how they choose to back the project, the majority of the people are wanting the roleplaying aspect, not the musical aspect.
The second stretch goal (150%!) is an additional rule supplement for a separate game. Unfortunately, no one who wants that game system is going to back a project that doesn't already produce for their game. Besides, stretch goals like this make their game seem like an after thought and generally don't work out well.
The third stretch goal, which is the first one that would appeal to most of the backers, doesn't come in until 158% of the funding goal. That's rough.
Raddu |
ShadowcatX, thanks for the comments. We were considering those exact ideas and things were in the works for adjusting them, see our announcement below.
Could you explain your second stretch goal comment in a little more detail, I don't follow.
FUNDING GOAL REACHED, ALL GAME STRETCH GOALS ADVANCE ONE NOTCH!
Excellent news, everyone! Not only have we reached our funding goal, but we’ve secured separate funding to ensure the Black Fortress Falls Song Trilogy Stretch Goal is already achieved (details on that coming soon!).
So, all subsequent Stretch Goals are bumped forward (see the Stretch Goals section for details)! That means the next Stretch Goal we’re striving toward is the 13th Age PDF Rules Supplement (now just $36,000), followed quickly by the Sorcery’s Wrath adventure (now just $39,000) right after that.
Game fans, spread the word – the Dragon Kings game universe is expanding quickly!
