I would assume that it works just like alter self, but with the larger size. I'd probably give it the +2 Str normally afforded to Medium creatures as well.

It may be for a number of reasons. Keeping necessary sources limited, restrictions on powers gained, simple oversight... there are any number of potential explanations. ^_^

Well there wouldn't be much point to that as the Change Shape ability doesn't adjust ability scores (I literally just found this out).

This ability functions as a polymorph spell, the type of which is listed in the creature's description, but the creature does not adjust its ability scores (although it gains any other abilities of the creature it mimics).

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess it would gain the size changes. -1 Hit, -1 AC, Increased Damage Die, 10' reach.

But still, this seems a bit weird.

Does anyone have a statblock for Arushalae as she levels up? In case the players decide to keep her along?

Not yet. I probably will, eventually... although my version may be very different from the one in the book.

I tried to create her in herolab, but there are options HL just doesn't offer/the stats in the book are different (eg. number of feats).

So my players walked the fight with Jerribeth, she got her 2 turns in one round, then got torn apart...

My thought was to let players who develop a strong bond with the NPCs to level 'em up, otherwise do it myself when I get the chargen itch.

My group is going at a shockingly slow pace it seems. We seem to play maybe once a month now. Ugh... But on an up note, I wiped the floor with them in the Xanthir Vang fight. They went in all cocky and proud like usual. They needed this. Cutting them down at the knees while frustrating for players, is overall better than having them NEVER face a real challenge. The Sorceress(Riftwarden Orphan) and Xanthir had a conversation for a bit. He gloated at killing her parents, asked her where she and her friends got their powers, and then tired of the evasive answers.

I ran it by his tactics in the book, I modified his INT to 28 for another spell or so, and higher DC spells. The Polearm spec'd fighter never carries a ranged weapon and they've had ample opportunities to stock up on one. He was dealing with a Spiked Pit spell for the entire fight. I nearly killed the Sorceress outright with a Disentegrate(makes no sense for him to cast it at a fighter type when the orphan most likely is the one talking to him).
Phantasmal Killer kills the Cleric who rolls low. Ranger constantly vexxed by the DR/abilites of Vang. No one can hit him, or really do any damage. Eventually they decide to run and will do library research about what Vang is.

And then I'll attack Drezen. In the "all out assault" way that the module mentions. So I need to find monsters that are on theme for 4 Level 11/Tier4ish PCs. So 3-4 encounters of CR13/14, if I go with the module recommendations

Use this monster, The Mountainous Feaster and use several armies of dretch to simulate this thing spawning mobs of them constantly. You'll bring the whole Attack on Titan vibe to the assault! If there are any named NPCs from Drezen that escaped, like the incubus Exorius, the succubus Kiranda, or the tiefling Chorussina use them as army commanders.

Zanedra the summoner's combat tactics instructions (p. 29) seem a bit fishy to me. The statblock says during combat, she'll be "supporting her eidolon with with ranged magic like hold monster, create pit, or summon monster VI (her favorite creatures to summon with this spell are 1d3 babaus)."

However, she doesn't have summon monster VI as a known spell, only as her summoner spell-like ability, and if she uses that ability, her eidolon immediately goes away. That doesn't sound like "supporting" and doesn't really make sense.

Pg. 63 - Spherewalker's staff

This item appears to be priced incorrectly. First of all, based on the caster level, theme, and Desna-worship crafting requirement, this is a staff intended to be constructed by Clerics of Desna (the dimension door spell is thanks to the Travel domain).

Going STRICTLY BY SPELLS ON THIS STAFF ONLY, construction rules would put the price at 51,600 gp and cost 25,800 gp to create. HOWEVER, there's also the added effect of adding +10 base land speed just for being in possession of the staff. This would add AT LEAST +2,000 gp to the price (or arguably, +4,000 since staves are weird since theirs is the only crafting rules that have you find the cost and then multiply by 2 to get the price, whereas all other items have you find out the price and divide by 2 to get the cost. I'm leaning towards +2,000 since this is an added effect, not a stored spell, and so it's behaving more like a wondrous item in this regard).

That would put the price at a debatable 53,600 gp, and cost at 26,800 gp. Even though this is a continuous spell effect (longstrider, thanks again to the Travel domain), which is where the +2,000 gp comes from, this is probably being generous since the bonus is untyped and is essentially an always-active slotless item. The closest item that mimics this effect is the agile alpenstock, which is 2,000 gp even that item must be held and its speed bonus is an enhancement bonus.

TL;DR: I recommend changing the price and cost of this item to 53,600 and 26,800 gp, respectively. Additionally, you may also want to add longstrider to the list of spells in the construction requirements.
