How high to make my stealth modifier?

Advice

I'm making a Stealth-based character, and I was wondering what some of the highest Perception modifiers we see in official Paizo publications (such as the Bestiaries or NPC Codex) are? I want to try and beat them all.

Tarrasque has a +43 perception.

So the current bar is 64.

Remember issues with tremor sense, scent, blind sight will go through stealth checks (by some DM call). Otherwise yeah that is the highest I know of.

Stealth: 20 ranks + 3 cs + 8feats + 15 shadow greater+ 4 racial + 10 dex =60. What is missing?

Perhaps some +Stealth items

I believe most "plus skill" items gives competence bonuses, so they wouldn't stack. Greater Shadow has that area covered. You could go Goblin though in order to get both a +4 racial and a +4 size bonus to stealth... I haven't looked up size modifiers for a while, but you could also maybe use Reduce Person to bump the size bonus up more.

Maybe shape changing into something with a higher 'racial bonus' for example a Lich (racial bonus to stealth is +8). Off the top of my head don't know of any creature with a higher one but wouldn't surprise me.

Size bonus changes

Racial Bonuses stack, so you could be a Goblin and then gain access to a spell like ability to qualify for becoming a Lich and then do so for a +12 racial bonus =p

from the SRD

Creatures gain a bonus or penalty on Stealth checks based on their size: Fine +16, Diminutive +12, Tiny +8, Small +4, Medium +0, Large -4, Huge -8, Gargantuan -12, Colossal -16.

So Goblin lich is my best bet then? :P

Also, wouldn't feats give a +10, not +8, past 10th-level?

So a Lich Goblin with Reduce Person?

Borrowing and modifying Leonardo Trancoso's equation:

Stealth: 20 ranks + 3 cs + 8feats + 15 shadow greater+ 12 racial + 10 dex + 8 size = 76

Who's shapechanged into a Fine sized creature :D 'Course your grapple check might leave something to desire :p

edit:
And Skill Focus 10+ ranks bumps that bonus up to +6 from +3 (If that wasn't already in the total from feats => Skill Focus +6 and Stealthy +4 maybe)

See this thread for how to get more out of stealth, in terms of when, and who you can use stealth against.

Don't forget Invisibility.

My best advice is to make the GM throw low. I had my ranger in a breast plate with a stealth rank of 3 (level 3) sneak up on a guard post. And guess what? Despite several attempts of the sentry, I remained undetected (GM said he didn't throw higher then a 5 for three times). Whereas the party rogue sneaked undetected and straight into the area of a watchdog with the scent ability that totally wasted the sneak the rogue was employing.
