With all the excitement in the lead-up to Gen Con, it seems the release of an expanded array of Pathfinder Society-legal pregenerated characters went unannounced. Well this post should remedy that!
We now have official Pathfinder Society pregenerated characters of 14 classes at levels 1, 4, and 7. The classes offered are:
- Barbarian
- Bard
- Cleric
- Druid
- Fighter
- Gunslinger
- Monk
- Ninja
- Paladin
- Ranger
- Rogue
- Samurai
- Sorcerer
- Wizard
In addition to the release of seven new iconics, we've also reformatted the previously released seven pregenerated characters to make them easier to use at the table. This includes expanded explanations of their individual class features, lengthened character backstories, and more character art. The pregenerated characters now have a horizontal layout as well, which makes them easier to use at the table, especially narrower play spaces.
You can download the complete package of all 42 pregenerated characters here (4.7MB zip/pdf).

My thanks to all involved for getting these out there with all that has been happening in preparation for Season 5 start. I agree with all who have posted before, you all are amazing!!!
Is there any chance of seeing the return of the Advanced Player's Guide iconic pregens?
These were originally on my list of goals to accomplish when I was hired. Step one -- check!
I would love to eventually add the APG pregens back. But, we have other things with a higher priority currently.

Great job! Now work hard & enjoy yourself at Gen Con!

I notice the Level 7 Ninja has a whopping 38 hit points now! That's 3 more than she used to have!
So, y'know, if someone's playing the new Reiko at your table, you might still want to stress the importance of not getting hit even once.
especially if it's your five star game and you're a venture-captain *cough*Eric*cough*

I was wondering about APG pregens, too. Glad to know they're on your "to do" list, even if they're nowhere near the top. I'm sure you'll get to them by GenCon 2017.
As for these updated ones, I'll be sure to look at them... next week. Too busy with GenCon to even care right now.

I'm very happy for these. It'll allow players more options for the 4th level space.
I, too, would love to get the APG pregens in matching styles, but when we get them, we'll get them it seems.

It's sometimes hard as a new player to remember fiddly bits like spontaneously casting cure spells. And how do you decide which spell to drop for that cure if you don't really know what all the spells do?
For more advanced players, there's always the option of changing the spells to whatever you want.

This is certainly useful
Ditto. If I do plan to use a pregen again in society play, I'll definitely use the new format. Thanks again for the hard work!

Thanks Mystic for that advice.

Glad you're enjoying them, folks! It's worth noting that most of the improvements were made by Mark for the NPC Codex versions of the characters! These pregens match whenever possible so we can keep the characters consistent (though with the adjustments that come with being built for Pathfinder Society).
The APG classes are in my sights for the next time I have some flex in my schedule.

This might be answered in the new scenarios (I didn't see anything about it in the new guide), but figured I'd ask to clarify...
With the removal of faction missions for prestige and the addition of faction-specific boons, how are we handling running a pregen now, especially with the intent to apply it to an existing, non-Grand Lodge PC? Previously we'd just do the Grand Lodge mission for the prestige and it would be reported (I think) as the PC's faction.
So...
- Should we keep in mind the Grand Lodge's season goals if we run a pregen?
- If the scenario has a Grand Lodge boon, do we keep it when we apply it to our existing, lower level, non-Grand Lodge PC?
- If the scenario has a boon for our PC's faction, do we miss out on it by running a pregen?

I'm glad you brought this up. I'd like answers, as well.
Personally, I've always found it ridiculous that pregens were forced into the Grand Lodge, even if the credit for playing was going to a PC with an established faction. I can understand if you're dealing with a newbie playing a level 1 pregen in their first session, and you don't want to take the time to explain the factions until later. But if someone has a character that just isn't the right level for the scenario, why not let them use their PC's faction with the pregen?
Hopefully, this will be changed going forward, but I wouldn't bet on it.

The likely answer is that pregens will now be considered factionless.

It'll happen after Gen Con. Of course, "after Gen Con" is a period that extends from 1968 until the heat death of the universe, so that doesn't narrow things down much.

I would argue that it begins in 2013 ... after Gen Con.
But yeah, you're spot on with that end date. :p

Okay, I understand why there is no magus or summoner pregens (why would you hand someone a character that complicated to play unprepared.)
But why no half-orc pregens?
That's more of a setting question--the pregens are the iconic Pathfinder characters, and the only half-orc I know of in that entire lot is the Inquisitor.
Although that might be a good question to ask James Jacobs.

Thanks for the updates.
And the proper way to say it is, "Sometime between now and the heat death of the universe."
"now", of course, is a rolling target.
Then again, there is one company whose games I play, who earned a variant on this. Soon, in general, means sometime in the near future. Real Soon Now (tm) means "Sometime between now and the heat death of the universe." I think it only took 8+ years of "Soon." for them to finally release the Necromancer character class in-game...

Not intending to necro a thread, but I would very much like to complete my pregen binder. ^_^

Magic 8ball says that, even once all current classes have PFS pregens, there are more classes down the turnpike, coming to run your binder over. ;)
Ah, well, at least we don't need to worry about pregens for all the archetypes...
