Getting characters together.......

Wrath of the Righteous

Silver Crusade

When I run AP's I like to run a one or two PFS adventures as a meet and greet. It gives them more money and they get to start the AP's at second instead of first. I was going to let them be caravan guards from Absalom this time. Is anyone else doing something like this for there games.

Don't know. Won't really know 'til I see the module and how it starts... and also have a group that will play this. The latter is the sticking point, what with having two groups playing two APs... and neither anywhere near to ending the campaign.

I'd need to see the first adventure first. I would like to have the PCs start off as pilgrims but until I read the adventure I can't be sure how well that would fit.

You should download the free Player's Guide and review it for ideas (specifically, the campaign traits can be used to tie the characters' backstories together; especially if multiple characters have the same campaign trait). Also, Ultimate Campaign has a quick method: pick one player to start, that player decides or rolls on a table how their character is acquainted with the character of the player on their left, proceeding clockwise around the table until each character has a backstory connection to two other characters in the party.

For a more involved method, you could have a session that is nothing more than all of the players working on the backstories of their characters and developing connections between them (with the GM providing guidance on how it fits within the setting). Alternately, the GM can set guidelines/restrictions on backgrounds (all characters must be from Kenabres, all characters must be blood relatives, etc.).

The first adventure assumes the players are all gathered in a plaza in Kenabres. It's probably best if they all know each other, but certainly not required.
