I'm a brand-new PFS GM. I'm running Wonders in the Weave I and II (no problem) and Bonekeep Level 2 (problem).
I know that it's common for new scenarios to be revised against a ticking clock. I get that, I really do. But as a new PFS GM, I'm getting worried that I will not have time to prep the mod, at least to the level where I'm sure I'll be able to run it as paying customers deserve.
Deep breaths, Jeff. Deep breaths.
Anyway, for what it's worth, it might be a good idea not to give brand-new GMs brand-new mods that can expect delays and up-against-the-wall prep-times. I'm sure I'll be fine, but just sayin'.

Jeff,
[pep talk]Most of us are in the same situation, with scenarios that have not been delivered yet. I am waiting on 5-02 and the Special. I have some of the same feelings about the special and want to deliver the best I can. We should receive the scenarios soon. I expect an email today saying that my downloads section has been updated. I would say that you could try to change with another GM, but most everything running that slot is either Bonekeep or season 5's. So no matter what you are looking at the same crunch for time. Just do the best you can. No one expects perfection. I am sure you will do just fine.[/pep talk]

Depends. Some scenarios use flip-mats a lot, some have all custom maps. Here is a link to the Flip-Mats used.

I would expect Bonekeep part 2 to have a custom map. I'm GMing Bonekeep part 1, and it's all custom.
And I agree about panicking over not having time to prep new scenarios. I've already decided that in future years, I'm going to insist on only GMing scenarios published at least a month in advance of any convention, so I never have this issue again.

2 people marked this as a favorite. |
About half of all of the products have already headed to the web team, and the other products are fast on their heels. Don't worry; I've been in your shoes for many a'convention, and I know how important it is to get scenarios to GMs as quickly (but also as error-free) as possible.
And yes, Bonekeep 2 is frighteningly delicious.

Jeff, I have to agree with you. I am GMing PFS at Gencon this year and have in the past years. I am assigned Bonekeep lv 2 as well.
I have a full time job (I have to work Monday & Tuesday before the con), family and home to take care of but I love to GM for PFS. However these last minute releases means I have to cram the previous weekend to be properly prepared.
I really wish in the future that when these new season mods are released for Gencon that they are done at least 2 weeks in advance so I have more time to prepare.
Thank you.

Likewise, though convention season (informally around early June to Gen Con) sees two major Pathfinder Society releases in quick succession, which makes getting everything out quickly tougher. Knowing what I know now, I have every intention to get a leg-up on the workload next year—a precaution I did not quite have time to adjust to during my first year.
Happy prepping.

Ive gotten Bonekeep 2, now just waiting on the final version of the special.
The maps for Bonekeep 2 look easy, most are small enough to blow up and print onto a couple of sheet of paper, if your drawing skills are like mine. (can't draw a straight line without a ruler. With one is a 50/50 proposition)

The Special should be in your downloads, but your email notification may not have listed it. Try downloading it again, and you should get the final version.
