"Burr cold, and shrinkage, the climax of the mountain-top was not what I expected."

"Last one to the bottom has to cook dinner for me." Nasty yells as he begins his descent at a full sprint.

Are you talking about the other side of the mountain?

*Pulls overcoat out of pocket and puts it on.*

No, this is just to get from the top to the bottom, to get to the other side would require 16 hours

Scarab Sages

For want of any better approach, Tvashtri converts his trusty Any-Tool into a harness to secure himself to Bleached Otyugh's back (top?) as the mighty monster makes its way up.

The cold does not appear to bother him.

*Continuing.*

Sovereign Court

As the party descends into the volcanic crater the temperature will become warm and near tropical. Jungle vegetation covers the lower slopes.

How steep?

Sovereign Court

Alissa: It's a very gentle slope compared to your rock climbing excursion earler

I think we'll rest here and eat before descending.

Happy Turkey Day everyone.

GRUUUUSK!!! GURG THINK MUCH COLD. NO FUN. YOU GUYS GO.

Scarab Sages

"...It is your decision, of course, but it does appear that the valley ahead will in fact take a turn for the tropical. Most interesting."

"Aye, much like kinder the wandering lasts until one day we find a suitable home....this seems such a place for an Otug."

Sovereign Court

After 6+ hours of hacking through dense jungle ahead of you is a small village on the shore of the large crater lake. It's landward side is surrounded by a crude palisade of palm trunks and branches that extends into the water on both sides of the village. Part of this wall has been expanded to form two fish pens.

The village itself consists of six palm-thatched huts that are raised about 2' off the ground on stilits. Further out in the lake are two more lodges, kept 3' above the water on stilted platforms

Anyone in sight?

Sovereign Court

There are tribesman moving around doing tribey things with your trained eye you figure 50 people may live here

Scarab Sages

"I must say...thus far, BOORDOOR has turned out far more hospitable than is generally reputed."

I half expect somebody to try to sell us a time share.

"I am hungry can I eat some of them? There are over 50 of them who will notice a few gone?"

"How do you recon a few Nasty? If you drink the lake dry and eat all the fish then you would be forced to eat the villagers too so they don't starve."

"Let's go say hello and ask for some fish."

"So are you saying if I drink the lake dry and eat all the fish ... then it would be okay for me to start eating villagers?"

"Of course not, I am saying we introduce ourselves and ask for some fishes, and loaves of bread."

He frowns. "But I want to eat villagers." He stamps his foot and pouts.

Bashy once turned a few fishes and a loaf of bread into enough clubs to pummel a village.

Sovereign Court

As the group debates on whether to consume the villagers or purchase a timeshare, A group of 10 men approach, they are armed with spears. They begin shouting and gesturing in an attempt to scare you off.

Scarab Sages

Knowledge (Local) to recognize what is perhaps some local custom: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

Appraise their spears: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

"Um...Saloom?*"

* = all-purpose Tashboorian greeting, like "hello/goodbye/peace/friendship/aloha/nuqneH/notintheface"

Linguistics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

"Go home stupid villagers! The adults are talking!"

Oh dear...

If I... No. That would only get the party to wave spears too.

I could... No. Then Trap would find another way.

But if... No. Absolutely no.

Possibly... No. Nasty would eat the entire village.

Well, they ARE natives. Let's communicate.

"HEY YOU. WE... WOULD... LIKE... A... PLACE... TO... STAY!!!"

Sovereign Court

Somehow someway through linguistics, knowledge of obscure cultures or just dumb luck, the group manages to convince the tribe that they pose no threat. Soon two tribesmen of obvious importance approach they beckon the party forward to a 30' x 50' hut.

Once inside they introduce themselves as Fano he claims to be the "Talking Chief". He is an elderly man, badly scarred and crippled in his left arm, the other man is Umlat the tribal cleric, he is an extremely aged man, living many years beyond a normal lifespan and very frail. Also in the hut is a small stone carving of another old man that they refer to as "The Chief". The party will learn that all major decisions come from the "Chief" While Fano acts as messenger and the interpretor of the Chief's wishes.

The chief want to know why you here

I can't wait to get to the part where we burn this hut to the ground.

"It's a long story, but if I'm not mistaken we're looking for Mount BOOM. We have a, um, deposit to make."

"So now that we are talking to the villagers does that mean I cant eat them?"

Sovereign Court

After your meeting(a solemn affair) there is a feast of baked fish, fruits, yam paste, turtle soup, roasted birds and fermented yam beer. The feast is held on the beach and great smoking fires are lit to drive away the insects.

They will relay to the party that the "way to the bad place" is on the island in the center of the lake. You are warned that the island is filled with headhunters and the villagers consider it Taboo

"Great an island of head hunters that are named Tattoo..."

The plane boss the plane..."I am Mr. Roork welcome to fantasy island".....

We might need these villagers. Let's go to the island, do what we have to do, then kill them all on the way back.

My posting may be sporadic over the next few weeks. Not only because of the holidays, but year end at work has started.
This is limiting my free time.

Sovereign Court

No problem, we will keep your seat warm for you.

The villagers provide the party with canoes to get across the lake to Taboo island. The rocky island is dotted with small ruins, statues and broken terraces. The largest ruin on the island is a temple that is carved into the cliff wall of the island's western shore. It can be most easily entered from the lake side, as it's broad steps descend into the waters of the lake.

Nasty scarfs down the all the food without blinking leaving very little if anything for anyone else.

"So can I at least eat the head hunters for now?" He says looking at AM HEALER.

When they get to the island he looks around. "HEADHUNTERS LUNCHTIME. NASTY HUNGRY."

I'm sure there will be plenty of head hunters to eat. Let's find some.

"I guess most things on the island are fair game for eating!"

NO eating sentient folks unless they attack us with malice first. That means, Nasty and AM H, you can NOT do something that will provoke someone into attacking.

What if I don't provoke them, but a summoned demon does? I must defend Busty the Succubus at all costs!

"Oh is that her name, I guess most people forget to ask..."

She's just doing the succubus thing to put herself through college.

Sovereign Court

After a leisurley paddle across the lake to Taboo island, you find yourselves at the temple entrance. The entrance has been carved into the side of a rocky cliff. Two primitive docks of narrow poles and weak planking extend from the temple steps. Two steps lead to a landing lined with pillars. The landing and pillars are made of red marble. Set on poles thrust into the cracks in the floor of the landing are many shrunken heads, jawbones, feathered totems and other primitive symbols.

Three short flights of steps lead up to a second landing 5' above the first. To either side of the center steps is a stone foot and ankle, the remains of a huge statue that once straddled the stairs. The end stairways are flanked by another red marble pillar. At the back of the second landing is an opening leading back into the cliff. The opening is flanked by another pair of pillars. Carved out of the angled back walls of the landing are two bas-reliefs of humans holding lighted braziers.

The room is 90' wide x 50' deep.

Early childhood education. She has a real knack for it.

So, are we entering this temple?

Constant Check for Traps: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28

Dammit... getting hungry.

*envelops and starts digesting the shrunken heads and jawbones and totems*

Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Sovereign Court

You may have to fight nasty over those yummy tidbits.
