"Those were chained from the outside. I don't know what the runes are, but it would seem the intent was to keep something in, not out."

"Twas the Great Mages of Greyhawk that took part in this enterprise. They were at the forefront of battle so my father spake. But no mention of what Andre doth speak of, the imprisoned, has been told to me. Or my church, I believe. That t'would be a deliberate deed." Sir Galavaine strokes his small beard and comes to no great conclusion.

He looks around and up for some indication of which is the right set of stairs. Then he notices that Podo and Gnobby have gone.

"Doth anyone know where the scouts have ghosted to?"

Male Halfling - Stout; AC-19/16/14, HP 9, CMB -1, CMD 14 Rogue / 1; Init +4, PER +6, F+2, R+7, W+1

Whoops! Thought I had already posted this.

Podo follows along at Gnobby's urging.

The Exchange

Gnobby looks up and sees something white in the rafters above him. Climbing up, he find an intact ivory robe, with cowl, edged and embroidered with reddish-pink whorls and lined with pale blue satin.

Male Human Cleric of Heironeous 5, AC-1/0 Hits 45/45, xp 13,363.5/27,000

"We should wait for them. Eat now in this vile place. Underground may not be so pleasant."

Gnobby gives the robe to Podo.
"You are now the evil cult leader. I am your loyal right hand man."

Gnobby bows to Podo. With a hissing voice: "Master, shall we explore your new evil hideout? Let us see what treasures your minions have left you for your enjoyment."

Podo dons the robe, and begins to prance about his head held high. He heads for the nearest party member. "I shall require tribute from you or my loyal executioner shall surely see to your demise". He nods his head at Gnobby as he speaks. "Prepare the executioner's axe".

The Exchange

The others hear the two talking quietly and are able to locate Podo, at least, giving orders to no one in particular while wearing a white robe. Reunited, it appears that the entirety of the Temple proper has been searched. "Where to? I don't think we can get through the doors on the large staircase," Pettry murmurs.

Gnome (hp=5/5) AC=6 THAC0=20 Illusionist/Thief 1/1 xp 0/0

'ENOUGH dilly dallying!"

Gnobby and Podo head down the closest stairs, carefully examine the door, both listen at the door.

If they hear nothing of interest, they open the door.

Attempting to move things along

The Exchange

The west stairway is steep and carved of stone, and has no door at the bottom. The path opens onto a corridor which stretches far ahead, with branches at 90 degrees to the north and south.

Sir Galavaine maintains his position towards the middle. He calls for light as they descend. Letting the scouts forge ahead some.

Tarmin steels her nerves before decsending the stairs, keeping close to her two little friends, arrow knocked, searching the floor for any sign of recent travel.

Yaay we are back!

Our dashing and determined rogues should keep Pettry's words in mind as they start opening and 'borrowing' things.

Yaay sexy save roll

Male Human Paladin 3 [HP: 30/30]

Andre maintains the second half of Sir Galavaine's shield wall, watching for trouble ahead.

The Exchange

Moving down the hallway, the southern hallway Ts off after 10 feet to the east and west, while the north passage continues on into the darkness.

Gnobby pulls his cloak tight and slips through the shadows.

He leads everyone down the eastern branch of the south passage.

Reminder that Sallandrya has a Cloak of Elvenkind purchased from the Elven enclave now as well.

The Ranger Priest is very ill at ease under the floor of the evil structure, she wills herself to remain calm for the sake of her companions and the trails ahead of them.

Male Human Cleric of Heironeous 5, AC-1/0 Hits 45/45, xp 13,363.5/27,000

"Doth thou wish to forge ahead master scouts while we hold the juncture? As we did before, our elven brethren can offer you support if that meets your needs?"

Sir Galavaine locksteps and marches beside Andre murmuring a quick prayer to the God of Bravery. Perchance it should be Istus, the Fatespinner, that I should mouth to.

Tarmin allows Gnobby to get 10 feet in front of her ,then starts off after him...

Podo sometimes trails Gnobby, and sometimes leads him as they descend. He gets distracted easily. Finally he removes the robes, as he kept tripping on them as he descended.

The Exchange

Gnobby and Podo find themselves in what appears to be an old armory. Broken weapon racks and destroyed equipment litter the floor.

DM Anselth do those arrows on the map indicate a sloping passage that meets another sloping back up or vice versa perhaps?

The Exchange

Yes, it slopes down towards what appears to be a passage to the left

Female Grey Elf Cleric 4/Ranger 3 (HP 40/40, AC 2; Init +3; Perception +16, Infravison 60ft)

The Elven trackers and halfling and gnome scouts search the armory, careful not to make too much noise but are thorough with their search.

Female Grey Elf Cleric 4/Ranger 3 (HP 40/40, AC 2; Init +3; Perception +16, Infravison 60ft)

I assume the four of us are searching with possibly one of us keeping watch. What are masterwork weapon rules in this edition?

Gnome (hp=5/5) AC=6 THAC0=20 Illusionist/Thief 1/1 xp 0/0

Gnobby looks carefully through the stuff, knowing it is easy to miss small treasures if not wary.
search: 1d100 ⇒ 8
His perceptive eyes find all there is to see. Then he leads them down the sloping passage.

The Exchange

Finding nothing of value in the room, Gnobby leads the group down the hall, finding another empty armory, and then into the sloping corridor. Another corridor runs to the north, the passage east begins to slope upwards again at this intersection. the northern passage is evidently one of importance, for it is plastered and painted with the evil scenes typical of the Temple.

"Many empty chambers," Andre says quietly. "I suppose that's good. The less indication we find of defenders, the fewer there actually are."

"Podo, I think we found your evil lair!"

"Remember not to be pulled in to their traps. The cloaked and robed warriors of this Temple doth know this terrain. Everyone must be wary of envelopment and capture or death. Continue Gnobby and Podo, but be on thy guard."

[spoiler=Gnobby]You note that the corridor is sloping downward. It is very gentle, but you're positive you are descending[/dice]

You hear sounds from all around, down almost every passageway, but none of it is distinct enough to make out.

"They've been gone awhile," Andre whispers to Galavaine. "Do you think they've gone missing?"

Dot?

"I don't know". "I'm hungry" Anybody got any food"? "I'm tired". "Anybody see anywhere to take a nap". "This adventuring's a lot more boring than it seems in the bards tales".
