So I saw a spell called "Blood Money"Lets you sac health for magic components for a spell.

Restoration heals ability damage.

So, the idea behind the character is to take healing patron, and go gravewalker. Eventually go Agent of the Grave to enhance my undead army even further.

Good idea?

There was a thread a while ago (not sure of the title of it) where the OP was arguing that blood money was broken. This was, as every thread complaining about something being broken is, met with reasons why it's extremely inefficient. In theory it's a nice idea, but you won't have enough CON to take enough damage for it to be useful.

Now, with my criticism out of the way, my one piece of advice is be a scarred witch doctor and max out CON.

Blood Money does STR damage, not CON damage. And yes, you can get it pretty high. There was a build the other day that got to 51 STR from 9. That said, it was a Wizard and I don't think half of the spells are on the Witch list. . .

EDIT: Blood Money requires you cast the spell before the end of the round. Standard, Move, or Full Action spells only. Restoration and Create Undead spells take much longer. You'd need to Blood Money Wish, duplicating one of those spells, to do it.

What makes it really stupid is when you use it with simulacrums.

In otherwords, if a a spell is interrupted, it doesn't use up Mat components, because they are not used.

you could also begin casting a really long spell with expensive material components, but you only need them at the end due to not being used as material components yet.

Im not familiar at all with Witch but there is a great feat called False Focus which i use on my Wizard for creating small undead and blood money for larger undead.

Oops

RAW doesn't cover materials during casting. RAI is that the spell fails, if this was a RAW forum I wouldn't have said anything about the material limitation :o but it's BM and in Advice so eh.

That said, you can't cast a spell during the casting of another spell.

Familar spell.

You can transfer a prepared spell to your familiar, allowing the familiar to cast that spell at a later time.

So, if my party's wizard is casting a spell that takes 10 minutes, my party's cleric cannot cast anything during those 10 minutes?

Cause like.. Well /I/ am not casting the spell. The familiar is. At the later time. Which is when I need the material components.

To help muddy the waters on blood money and long spells, here is JJ.

If you are doing a home game, I might recommend a voidstick to help with your animations.

Well its become less of 'is this character viable' and more of 'when do you use up material components'
