Item Familiar + Absorb Familiar

Advice

I've heard this is a good combination. Unfortunately I can't find the Absorb Familiar feat, so I can't figure it out. Any thoughts?

The Absorb Familiar Feat is in Races of Renown: Plot and Poison.

Oh sorry I also wanted to make a discussion on the combination. Whether Item Familiar and Absorb Familiar was a good combination? I've got a Ranger Dedicated to the art of archery and the hunt, so I could see him doing this if I understand how the combo would go.

For those who cannot look it up, here is a copy from Plot and Poison (if that is indeed the feat you were referring to).

Absorb Familiar (General)
You absorb your familiar into your body, giving you greater power.
Prerequisite: Must have a familiar.
Benefit: Your familiar becomes a part of you, totally subsumed into your being. Any numerical special benefit your familiar grants you (such as the +2 bonus on Move Silently checks from a cat familiar) is doubled. These benefits become permanent extraordinary abilities. You lose access to all the familiar's other abilities, and you may never again take a familiar. If your familiar does not grant you a numerical bonus, this feat grants no benefits.
This feat may be chosen as a wizard bonus feat.

And a link to Item Familiar.

Huh...how exactly would that work with an item familiar? What bonuses would that incur, and what would happen with something like a Bow?

Are item familiar and absorb familiar both paizo material?

I'm not 100% sure to be honest. I read about it in a few posts, and have been trying to get specifics since. I think Absorb Familiar is from a 3.5 book for Drow. Plot and Poison Races of Renown.

Item Familiar is something from 3.5 something like a paladins bonded weapon but for other people.

Plot and Poison was WotC 3rd Edition material.

Liberty's Edge

Item familiars are a variant rule (probably from unearthed arcana). Even without absorb familiar they are seriously unbalanced compared to normal familiars. Well normal anything really.

Ok, so I'll never be using these. Interesting idea though. I sort of imagining a guy with a sword familiar melding it into his arm.

Really its a 3rd edition? Oh well I apologize then. No point in looking at that then. I thought it was a really cool idea literally becoming one with your weapon but 3rd ed...that's just pushing conversion trying to do 3rd edition with Pathfinder.

Is there anything like that in pathfinder?

Not that I know of. Bonded objects or a scarred witch doctor's mask are the closest I can think of.
