"Advancing" extra 5-foot step combined with the Quarterstaff of Vaulting

Rules Questions

Can I use the special 5-foot step granted by Advancing with the Quarterstaff of Vaulting's ability to leap over an opponent?

Advancing.

Quarterstaff of Vaulting.

Anyone? (Sorry for double post but worried this got lost since I posted it way to early in the morning!)

I think that is the correct reading yes. "Advancing" grants a 5-foot step, the quarterstaff of vaulting grants a new use for a 5-foot step.

Lore: Yeah that was my reading of it as well. Just wanted to get a couple extra second opinions before I invest a bunch of gold into something that wouldn't do what I wanted it to.

Sovereign Court

If this is for PFS, you cannot upgrade a named or specific magic item. So you would not be able to add Advancing to a Quarterstaff of Vaulting. If this is for a homegame, you'd have to ask your DM since there isn't a clear answer from a rules perspective on whether you can upgrade a named item.

It should work.

Being that this is a custom item, you should double check with the GM if he's OK with the interaction.
