Advice

Here is a PrC build thread. I'm starting with some PrC builds using SLAs to qualify for them.

Hadraniel
NG Incorruptible Peri-blooded Aasimar Cleric of Pharasma 1/Conjurer 2 (Teleportation subschool)/Mystic Theurge 10/Conjurer 7

Prohibited Schools: Illusion and Necromancy
Domains: Thought and Oceans
Hadraniel uses the Incorruptible feature's corruption resistance to satisfy the divine level 2 spell requirement for mystic theurge, and the Thought subdomains detect thoughts SLA to satisfy the arcane requirement.

Attributes at 1st level

Str 10
Dex 12
Con 10
Int 18 (16 +2 racial)
Wis 16
Cha 10 (8 +2 racial)

Traits: Reactionary, Magical Knack-Cleric
Feats-
1 Scribe Scroll, Combat Casting
3 Spell Focus(conjuration)
5 Augment Summoning
7 Improved Initiative
9 Craft Wand
11 Sacred Summons
13 Summon Good Creature
15 Spell Specialization(summon monster)
17 Superior Summoning
19 Greater Spell Specialization (summon monster)

Here is what Hadraniel looks like at level 12:

Str 10
Dex 14 (+2 from Belt of Phys. Might)
Con 12 (+2 from Belt of Phys. Might)
Int 25 (+4 from Headband of Mental Prowess, +1 at lvls 4, 8, and 12)
Wis 20 (+4 from Headband of Mental Prowess)
Cha 10

Skills:
Appraise 1 rank +11

Knowledge (geography) 1 rank +11
Knowledge (history) 1 rank +11
Knowledge (local) 1 rank +11
Knowledge (nature) 1 rank +11
Knowledge (nobility) 1 rank +11
Knowledge (planes) 12 ranks +22
Knowledge (religion) 12 ranks +22

Perception 12 ranks +17
Sense Motive 7 ranks +15
Spellcraft 12 ranks +22

Init +7 AC 15 BAB +5
F +11
R +9

Equipment: Headband of Mental Prowess +4 (Int and Wis), Belt of Physical Might +2 (Dex and Con), Rod of Metamagic (Dazing, lesser), Handy Haversack, Bracers of Armor +4, Cloak of Resistance +5, Feather Token (tree), Wand of Cure Light Wounds, Dagger +1

Hadraniel is built around summoning. Some of the summoning feats apply to both arcane and divine summon monster spells. He summons monsters, casts buff spells on the party and monsters, and casts healing spells as needed. He also uses the surge ability from the Oceans subdomain to move opponents around, making it easier for summoned monsters to tear them apart. The dazing spell metamagic rod lets magic missile and acid arrow daze opponents.

Here is a tiefling arcane trickster build.

Astra Oth Gundirsdottir

CN Female Tiefling Rogue 3/Diviner 1/Arcane Trickster 10/Diviner 6
Prehensile-tailed and scaled skin
(Necromancy and Enchantment prohibited schools)
20 pt buy

Str 10
Dex 18 (16 +2 racial)
Con 10
Int 18 (16 +2 racial)
Wis 10
Cha 8 (10 -2 racial)

Traits: Reactionary, Magical Knack-wizard
Feats:
1 Improved Intiative
2 Rogue talent- weapon focus rapier
3 Weapon Finesse
5 Combat Reflexes
7 Two Weapon Fighting
9 Toughness
11 Improved Two Weapon Fighting
13 Skill Focus (Stealth)
15 Dazzling Display
17 Shatter Defenses
19 Greater Two Weapon Fighting

The build is more rogue focused, but the Diviner feature that allows her to always act in a surprise round is nice while scouting ahead alone. She continues taking levels of Diviner after completing Arcane Trickster, and has 9th level arcane spells at level 20. The build is meant to work in a team with the mystic theurge posted above, Hadraniel makes summon monster wands for Astra. She scouts ahead, can use a wand (or her own spells) to summon monsters, and then can start the fight immediately or wait for the rest of the party. She casts greater magic weapon on her two masterwork rapiers before combat, and can use her Otherworldly Kimono to temporarily deal with a particularly powerful opponent. She carries wands of summon monster, magic missile with dazing spell, and cure light wounds. The prehensile tail lets her grab a wand, though she has to drop a rapier to use a wand after fighting starts.

Here is what Astra looks like at level 12:
Str 10
Dex 20 (+2 from belt)
Con 12 (+2 from belt)
Int 23 (+2 from headband, +1 at levels 4, 8, and 12)
Wis 10
Cha 8

Skills:
Acrobatics 12 ranks +20
Appraise 1 ranks +10
Bluff 12 ranks +14
Disable Device 12 ranks +20
Disguise 12 ranks +14
Escape Artist 1 rank +9
Fly 1 rank +9
Knowledge (arcana) 12 ranks +21
Knowledge (dungeoneering) 1 rank +10
Knowledge (engineering) 1 rank +10
Knowledge (geography) 1 rank +10
Knowledge (history) 1 rank +10
Knowledge (local) 1 rank +10
Perception 12 ranks +15
Sense Motive 1 rank +4
Sleight of Hand 12 ranks +20
Spellcraft 12 ranks +21
Stealth 12 ranks +20
Swim 1 rank +4
Use Magic Device 12 ranks +14

Init +11, AC 19, BAB +6/+1
Sneak Attack Damage +6d6
F +9
R +16
W +11

Equipment: Otherworldly Kimono, Headband of Int +2, Handy Haversack, Belt of Physical Might +2 (Dex and Con), Bracers of Armor +4, Dagger +1, two masterwork rapiers, Wand of Summon Monster IV with five charges, Wand of Dazing Magic Missiles with 5 charges, Wand of Cure Light Wounds

Hassan the Hassassin

CG Dual-Talented Human Urban Ranger 1/Scryer 1/Eldritch Knight 10/Scryer 8

Str 16 (14 +2 racial)
Dex 14
Con 12
Int 18 (16 +2 racial)
Wis 10
Cha 10

Traits: Reactionary, Wanderer's Shroud
Feats:
1 Dodge
3 Mobility, Spring Attack
5 Combat Expertise
7 Whirlwind Attack, Weapon Focus Naginata
9 Dimensional Agility
11 Dimensional Assault, Weapon Specialization Naginata
13 Dimensional Dervish
15 Dimensional Maneuvers
17 Dimensional Savant
19 Improved Critical- Naginata

Hassan is a human with early entry to Eldritch Knight with the Scryer subschool specialist's ability. He is built to use dimension door to get position for whirlwind attack.

Some ideas/thoughts:

- Arcane Strike is almost a must-have feat for damage dealers. Great for archers, TWFers, pouncers, and double-barreled gunslingers due to their high numbers of attacks per round.

- Dimensional Agilty chain feat is now available to EK at level 9. This is good news to all Nightcrawler fans.

- Deadly Dealer can be used by full non-caster classes. Great for Gambit fans.

- A martial character EK can now access Antimagic Field at level 13. This will allow, say, a Fighter to completely shut down casters. They can also fight brute hitters using magic.

Last of my PrC builds.

Amara
LG Angel-blooded Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Paladin 1/Sorcerer (draconic bloodline) 1/Eldritch Knight 10/Dragon Disciple 8

Str 18 (16 +2 racial)
Dex 10
Con 10
Int 10
Wis 10
Cha 18 (16 +2 racial)

Traits: Reactionary, Scholar of the Great Beyond
Feats
1 Power Attack
3 Cleave, Weapon Focus- longsword
5 Heavenly Radiance- Searing Light
7 Weapon Specialization- longsword, Silent Spell
9 Silent Spell
11 Angel Wings, Improved Critical- longsword
13 Arcane Strike
15 Skill Focus- fly
17 Spell Penetration
19 Spell Focus- evocation

Amara is probably the most powerful of the four builds I've posted. The EK/DD combo is very strong. It looks like one of the most useful benefits of early access to PrCs from SLAs is in terms of wealth by level- the builds I picked out equipment for at 12th level have a lot of spells available, making some items unnecessary. I'm assuming all the builds can learn the spell Greater Magic Weapon, either from a spellbook recovered from an opponent or by buying a scroll. The MT build is the only pure caster, the other three use spells to enhance what they do (sneaking or melee combat).

And I realized I usually start PC names with either an H or an A. Naming conventions in fantasy allow for a lot of repetition. If you'd like to make names for Forgotten Realms locations just add "dale" to the end of any of these names- Hadranieldale, Astaroth's Daughterdale, Hassandale, and Amaradale. When Forgotten Realms eventually becomes public domain I call dibs on writing up the first four new dales.

edit: changed Still Spell to Arcane Strike per Ender730's suggestion.

Thanks Ender730!

I'm not sure your EK works. Scrying is a fourth-level wizard spell. You can't use the Bard version.

thanks,

Kodger

The Scryer subschool of divination specialization gives an SLA that functions as clairaudience/clairovoyance.

Oops!

Sorry.

You still have silent spell listed in both the 7th and 9th slots...?

Hadraniel uses the Incorruptible feature's corruption resistance to satisfy the divine level 2 spell requirement for mystic theurge, and the Thought subdomains detect thoughts SLA to satisfy the arcane requirement.

The problem is that the Read Minds Power comes at 8th level.

I was also looking at cleric powers for this purpose, and the only one that could qualify as a 2nd level SLA, according to me (Copycat has a reference to Mirror Image but is clearly much less powerful), is Door Sight from the Exploration Subdomain.

Door Sight (Su): You can lay your hand upon any surface and see what is on the other side, as if using clairvoyance. Using this power takes 1 minute, during which time you must be touching the surface you want to see through. You can keep looking for as long as 10 minutes with each use of this power, but must touch the surface and take no other action the entire time. The surface cannot be thicker than 6 inches plus 1 inch per cleric level you possess. You can use this power a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

While this power is more limited than Clairaudience-Clairvoyance, it has also some advantages over the spell. With a lenient GM, it could perhaps be interpreted as a 2nd-level SLA.

Two problems I see here:

1) You cannot use a spell-like ability to qualify for a prestige class. http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2opr7&page=3?Magic-Item-Crafting-any-unreso lved-questions#104

2) Are you implying that you're taking both Conjurer and Teleporation? I thought that the RAW doesn't allow two specializations...

Apparently you missed an extremely important FAQ.

Just read it... apparently I did. Would've been nice back when I wanted to build my Savage Species Pixie Arcane trickster
