Mystic Theurge, Rest, and Combined Spells

Rules Questions

How does interrupted rest affect a Mystic Theurge's ability to cast spells in cross class spell slots?

For example, a Wizard 3/Cleric 3/Mystic Theurge 1 can prepare Magic Missile in a 2nd level cleric spell slot, or Bless in a 2nd level wizard spell slot.

Now, suppose the character only manages to get an hour's rest the night before. This affects wizards, but not clerics, in prepping spells the next day. Which does the character lose - the use of wizard spells, or the use of wizard spell slots, or both? In the above example, can the character no longer prepare the Bless, or no longer prepare the Magic Missile, or neither?

Also, if you prepare an orison in a 1st level wizard slot, or a cantrip in a 1st level cleric slot, do you still get unlimited uses per day?

Idk about your first question, but no to the one about cant rips/orisons.

The character doesn't lose any spells just by failing to rest. However, he can't prepare spells in expended wizard spell slots without getting 8 hours of rest. So, if this hypothetical Mystic Theurge had expended both a Magic Missile prepared as a 2nd level cleric spell and a Bless as a 2nd level wizard and then only got one hour of rest he would be able to prepare all his cleric spells as normal assuming he prayed at the correct time, but would be missing any wizard spell slots he had expended since the last time he prepared spells and would not be able to prepare new spells in place of ones he had not cast. This includes being able to prepare arcane spells in his divine spells slots so long as they met the requirements for the Mystic Theurge's Combined Spell ability.

Combined Spells (Su): A mystic theurge can prepare and cast spells from one of his spellcasting classes using the available slots from any of his other spellcasting classes. Spells prepared or cast in this way take up a slot one level higher than they originally occupied. This ability cannot be used to cast a spell at a lower level if that spell exists on both spell lists. At 1st level, a mystic theurge can prepare 1st-level spells from one of his spellcasting classes using the 2nd-level slots of the other spellcasting class. Every two levels thereafter, the level of spells that can be cast in this way increases by one, to a maximum of 5th-level spells at 9th level (these spells would take up 6th-level spell slots). The components of these spells do not change, but they otherwise follow the rules for the spellcasting class used to cast the spell.

So its clear that the casting of the spell uses the rules for the spellcasting class used. But does the preparation? I would say yes, even though its not specifically spelt out. So what does this mean?

It means we can only prepare spells as a cleric. Which means you can prepare wizard spells (magic missile in this example) in the cleric slots since those are refreshing but not the other way around (not bless). But those wizard slots don't dissappear. Any unused spells in the wizard side remain available until used or refreshed.

I would say no, but allowing this wouldn't be game breaking. Speak to your GM.

Question involved with this. With a cleric and wizard Theurge do you have to take two hours to prepare all your spells?
If you do, Theurge should have a feature to cut it to one.
