Crafting Question-Mantle of Near* Immortality

Rules Questions

Hello

I am looking to craft a item similar to the Mantle of Immortality, except I only need it to use the spell Age Resistance, not the greater version. Since the item has the exhaustion drawback for 24 hours I would like to keep this effect. My problem is I don't know how that effects the cost of crafting it with the negative effect involved. Any help or pointing to a formula would be greatly appreciated.

What exactly do you intend this item to do? I don't want to be told to look up the spell, I want to know the exact effect you're looking to create. So far the only proper non-epic immortality item I've ever seen was the Rod of Eternity. It was very simple, the Rod suspended aging... as long as you held it.

The usual price for a Use-activated magical item like the Mantle of Immortality is Spell level x caster level x 2,000 gp. As listed, Greater Age Resistance is level 7, requiring a level 13 caster, so 13 x 7 x 2,000 = 182,000 gp. WOW! The book has it at only 50,000 gp so they really underpriced it to about 27.5% of the formula price. It's hard to believe that a nearly 75% price reduction is ONLY because of the added Exhaustion limitation so I assume they were just being very generous with the price.

Applying the same formula to Age Resistance (not Greater) gives a price of 11 x 6 x 2,000 = 132,000 and applying the same discount gives a final price of about 36,500 gp.

Same item, lesser effect.

It's pretty good for an item useless to the majority of PCs.

Hey thank you guys for the quick responses. Yeah I did the math and saw how massive the difference was if I created the same item.

Thank you DM Blake for figuring this out for me. And yes it it is a great item to the right caster.

Age resistance has a 24 hour duration, so the total price in the use-activated section would normally be divided in half. So, it's about half the standard formula price, not a quarter of it.
