An Eagle Knight is Always on Duty

Andoran

Liberty's Edge

A wounded tengu walks into the local Andoran embassy in Absalom. to those that can read his avian features he looks PISSED. He has the markings a lance corporal but is clearing wearing woodman's gear and the symbol of the green faith hangs around his neck. He looks injured, but not in any life threatening danger. Tengu eggs held in a VERY well protected basket he is holding. Any who know much about medicine or nature would recognize that the eggs are a few hours from hatching. The eggs have red dye on them in symbols that read "Children of the Duskplume Clan" in tengu.

Liberty's Edge

A bleary eyed tengu sits at guard duty outside the embasy, nursing a hangover, complaining to his fellow stuck on guard duty

"And that is the last time I officiate a wedding between a knight and his horse...skunked beer in a wine bottle what the hell is this?" he opens the door and his hand starts to glow with a soft pulsing white light. "Tap the hand for a little healing, and don't give me that noble I don't need it bunk, I've already used the spell. Bring em up the tower, third door on the left. Their first sight should be the open sky."

Liberty's Edge

Gratefully the young man touches his fellows hand and gains strength. His expression softens at the presence of a fellow tengu.

While rearanging the basket he says

"Thank you brother. I am Druid Starbeak of the Duskplume clan as well as a Lance Corporal to the Eagle Kights. I am one of my clan's three priests. I have to be there when they hatch. Would you do my clan the honor of witnessing these hatchings with me when you get off duty? Assuming you shift ends in three hours or you can get someone to cover for you that is."

The fact that the parents aren't there to witness the hatching is a clear give away to a fellow tengu that this was another egg theft foiled via rescue. Starbeak wonders if others will catch on.

Liberty's Edge

"Corvus, Holy beer inspector. Despite a little too much praying last night I'll be off in about an hour. See you on the roof. "

Liberty's Edge

As Starbeak prepares the Duskplume Clan rights of birth, he lets it known through the embassy that a human Andoran citizen tried to smuggle the eggs of tengu citizens of Andoran to Absalom to sell for slavery. Starbeak stopped them them in port. The Duskplume Clan settled in Augustana 25 years ago and considers themselves part of Andoran. There hatchings are traditionally public. All Andoran citizens and soldiers are welcome as are Andoran pathfinders.

Except the smuggler who confessed on the spot after attacking a Lance Corporal Eagle night and losing. The was brought to embassy prison for extradition half an hour after Starbeak went to the roof. Starbeak wonders what will become of him, will he be executed Augustana or Almas?

Liberty's Edge

"Caw.. whatcha bring him here for? You know what he did, you caught him red handed. You shoulda just tossed chummed the water and tossed him off the side. Now there's gonna be gabbing, yaking, talking, diplomacizing, and paperwork... sooo much paperwork... I swear every time they chop off a head they need to chop down a tree for the paper*.

Liberty's Edge

"So that the parents of these soon to be hatchlings that he left for dead can watch him die! I wanted to kill the bastard there and then, but my duties as Eagle Knight, and member of my clan required that I do everything i could to give those sinned agains could see justice with their own eyes."

Liberty's Edge

They won't get around to stringing him up for months, if they ever do. Like as not he'll go on the black whale and die of consumption in a few months. The parents are going to be busy with the hatchlings to sit around waiting for someone to cough themselves to death.
