With the continuing growth and presence of online play through various methods, including PbP and VTTs, it has necessitated the appointment of a Venture-Captain for online play.

Joseph Caubo has been a VL in both Georgia and Florida, and I believe he will help solidify and grow online play bigger and better than it currently is. Some of his responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Be the go-to contact for all online gaming; assist online game days, play-by-posts, online campaigns, or any other such group wanting a Pathfinder Society Organized Play online.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the different ways users can play online: either through play-by-posts, Paizo’s VTT, or any 3rd party application (ex. D20Pro).
• Build a positive rapport with all online forum goers interested in online Pathfinder Society games.
• Build and maintain monthly an email list of online volunteers.
• Maintain a full report of Pathfinder Society Organized Play events (with or without your assistance) on a quarterly basis. Work with the players to ensure they are registered on paizo.com.
• Ensure that all Pathfinder Society Organized Play sessions run online through the Paizo ‘Online Campaign’ forums are reported and reported accurately, and that all Pathfinder Society Organized Play events are entered properly to display on the Events page (paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/events).

Welcome aboard!

Strange that post has separated the e from collective... Tip: make sure there no space between the v and e, lol.

Yay! We have a VC for online play!

Congrats Joe Caubo!

There are a couple of VO's already involved in this community, and some pretty solid pillars of folks who have been just amazing in organizing these events even further.

If you get a chance you can toss me a skype at Son_of_Solomon and I can talk to you about some cool virtual tabletop stuff and maybe even get you a free license to some of them.

Good luck with this massively growing field!

Congrats, Joseph! Being able to play online has greatly fed my addiction... I mean, increased my opportunities to get into games. I think this is a step in the right direction!

(And, I'm hoping it signals an announcement is near about Paizo Gamespace!)

Congratulations :)

Congratulations Joe; hopefully you'll be able to stop by the RPG Geek Pathfinder Society Game Guild. It's home to lots of play-by-forum games, and now the odd Roll20 game too. One VL (Brian Darnell) is already a member there.

Does this mean someone will need to summon a Cyber-Froghemoth now?

Congratulations! I'll second Paz's mention of the RPGGeek Guild - lots of games there! Whatever you need there, just ask.

Congrats, Joe! Best part of being Online Play VC? You can do it from anywhere!

Avatar and Mekkis also help out at http://www.pfrpg.com.au/

Its an Aus based online method of Online games but Ive enjoyed quite a few games there. Whilst I dont think I could ever be an online gm, the ones they have are topnotch.

Dark Archive 4/5

Congratulations! This is a really good step Paizo is taking.

Shadow Lodge 3/5

I'm already checking in with Joseph. Big opportunities here, nice to see Online Play getting some serious recognition!

Very very very happy to see a VC for on-line play.

Posted at the PFSOC group, but will say congrats here as well! Looking forward to working with you, though I be but a humble GM.

All the drama of organized play.

All the personal interaction and empathy of text.

How short was that straw? :)

Grats!

BigNorse: I know you are in jest but...

im guessing most games now use a voice chat product

Shadow Lodge 3/5

We played games for years using chat only and we loved it.

We tried using Skype for a while and that was working okay, then after a few months, we tried another game with chat-only again and we had a lot of problems - wondered how we ever played that way.

The big advantage about including voice is that you can include those little nuances like "do I get a cover bonus from hiding back here?" and it can be 20-40 seconds quicker each time something like that comes up, and that adds up.

*PS, Mike go to the link before you send me an email... ;)

Joe here is a VL idea... Set up VLs in Foreign Language PFS Online play to keep you informed.

Considering Australian English is a foreign language to many people, I would suggest Avatar for a VL position :)

Congrats, Joe! You are welcome to come out to Myth-Weavers and check out how we do PFS PBP.

For some reason, if you don't use the URL tags, urls tend to get broken up by random spaces on the Paizo forums.

Welcome to being Online VC, Joe!

Another group you will ant to contact, if you haven'[t already, is the Fantasy Grounds 2 group:
FG2 PFS Forum

Grand Lodge 4/5

This was a wise move. Congrats to you, Joseph!

Congrats, Joseph. I have had a lot of success playing APs and Homebrews via Pbp and Maptools/Skype. And, with the advent of sanctioned APs, I'm now tying that in with my PFS activity. This online stuff is awesome! :)

Liberty's Edge 3/5 5/5

Resistance WAS futile. He HAS BEEN assimilated. Welcome 1 of 1.

Our new venture captain should check out the Fantasy Grounds pathfinder Society forum and get in touch with some one who by the name of Trenloe who does an excellent job supporting PFS games and so is already a Venture lieutenant in the real world
