So, I am enjoying the Eberron- based pbem that I am taking part in but it just reinforces my desire to try running my own Eberron- based game. This is just a call to see if anyone would be interested in playing.
The Premise: Mysterious flares of magical energy are occurring across the Five Nations, causing strange mutations in those affected, either releasing latent magical ability (sorcerers) or other... stranger changes (superhuman characters, dubbed Freaks, based on a modified version of Heroes Wear Masks game).
The Story: You can choose either to be an established adventurer (5th level start) in any of the corebook/APG classes, or you can be a Freak (5th level restricted and modified classes from HWM). If an adventurer you sign on with the Rose Companions, a powerful group of heroes based out of Sharn but that fights evil throughout the world. If a Freak, you are newly 'erupted', the product of a magical flare in a city in Breland and are entrusted to the Rose Companions by King Boranel of Breland to help you adjust to and learn to control your new abilities.
The Mystery: What is causing these flares of magical energy, why do they seem strangely familiar to those versed in the arcane, and what connection do they have to the leader of the Companions, the mysterious Brelish Rose?
Anyone interested please let me know and if there is a strong enough response I will give it a shot, but fair warning- this would be my first PBP game and the 1st game I've GM'd in a while altogether. If any experienced GMs would be interested in helping out with the game that would be welcomed as well. Thanks.

hello there,
just a few question you are running the eberron story with pahfinder rule set or with ADD 3.5?
of course you didn't mention point buy / hp / gold rules for character creation.
As a DM and fellow player. my two most important advice are thus following. You have to set the pace of the story and be active with it. 2nd is you have to figure out a way to deal with combat and AoE spells.
will you use specific related battlemap site or not? for example.

Cross of Modified Pathfinder and Heroes Wear Masks with some Eberron-specific elements added. Dice roll for stats, average gold for class, 1st level max hp plus roll for additional levels.
I do not know anything about battlemaps- the game I am currently in does not use them and I am new to PbP- what are they exactly?

as you might have seen both ADD3.0 / 3.5 and pathfinder use hex grid for spell Area of effect./ combat mouvement etc...
here are example of 5ft (the standard measurement in both rule set)

So the battlemap allows the GM and players the ability to keep track of positioning in combat, allowing for tactical movement, correct? I may need to look into that, I had not gotten as far as considering that aspect of combat- if there is enough interest in this campaign that I set it up then I will certainly have to decide how to handle combat.
Thanks for the information.

That's exactly what it is. A lot of GMs, however, go with a more "Cinematic" approach, which is basically, "If what you want to do sounds cool/plausible, do it." I definitely prefer games like that, because I don't like letting the rules dictate the game too much, but everyone has their own style and distinction on where they draw the line.
