Silver Crusade

Sniff. Our dear Amara Li jie has turn our humble faction into a full-fledged Lodge of its own in Goka/Tien Sia! To think I live to see this come to pass! Sniff! *Turns to cry ahahahhhhh....!!!

So.... Sniff sniff, for those of us still running around the Inner Sea will need where is everyone heading off to? New factions? New parties? New ventures?

I myself, will be joining the Silver Crusade.

In this group of good men and women, I hope to lend my wisdom, find ways to help the needy, right the wrongs and most importantly! Find many more poor single souls that I could tied together in holy matrimony. Even as we forward the Society to ever protect and preserve knowledge for future generations.

So Speak up! Beloved fellow Lantern Lodgers! Spin new tales for those yet to come!
May our paths cross again and often!

Luck and Fortune!

Grand Lodge

I remain undecided, though the Ten seem to be the most suitable for replacement Lords.

(or I might retire the character as a Lantern)

Lantern Lodge

After much reflection upon this matter; we are, as pathfinders, all the eyes and ears of the ten. As such, it is to the Ten, and to the well-being of the Society as a while that I have pledged my life and honor to. Though we are no longer members of the Lantern Lodge in name and title, forever will we uphold it's spirit.

Be true to the light friends, and it shall always see you home.

(OOC: Moved over to grand lodge officially as of yesterday @ Origins. Just a few more mods to go before Eyes of the Ten.)

Sczarni

My fellow Gnome made the scarzini sound interesting, I think i'll see what new experiences wait for me over there

Grand Lodge

It's a difficult question, crawww.
Marcos Farabellus had a few words with me regarding teaching orhers how to use the curveblade. I was chuffed enough to acquiesce and keep loyal to the decemvirate.
Also, over the two years I have wirkwd for the society, I have built a fine nest on the roof of Ambrus Valsin's office. I would hate to build a new nest on top of some temple somewhere.

Grand Lodge

After much reflection, I have decided that I will soon pledge my blade to the Grand Lodge as this will not cause any change in my edicts as a Ronin Sword Saint. I will continue to honor the Lantern Lodge by taking the title of Brother in the hopes of changing that to Master before the formal pledge of loyalty to the Grand Lodge.

And nuts.

Sovereign Court

The events with the Way of the Kirin, and Amara Li's decision regarding the future of our beloved Lantern Lodge, have left me searching for a new path. While I share the feelings of others with regards to the Silver Crusade - a most noble organization in ideals and purpose - I feel that they may not appreciate all of the talents that the Lantern Lodge allowed and encouraged me to cultivate, as sometimes those talents are, out of necessity, employed in less than honorable ways.

During my adventures in the West, I have spent much time in negotiations with the trade princes of Qadira. In particular, I recently helped broker negotiations with the honorable Trade Prince and faction leader Aaqir al'Hakam, and it is reasonable to think that were I to join with him, it may help to secure a permanent alliance between Tian Xia and the Gateway to the East.

However, other recent events while in pursuit of the goals of the Society had unintended results. I fear that I may have been too convincing while speaking to a certain Chelish noble, and my words may have led to the events that have plagued Zarta Dralneen over the last year. My personal feelings of guilt have caused me to contemplate pledging myself in service of Lady Dralneen, though I fear all that may entail.

In the end, however, I have decided to place my personal goals and ideals above any perceived debts. Though they seem overly decadent on the surface, I have found that I have much in common with those Imperials from the Taldan Empire. Much as my homeland of Minkai, the Taldans value their family lines. Ancestry is important to the Taldans, as is tradition, and these are things I value. I find, too, in the Taldans an opportunity to have my arts appreciated, both the traditional dance by which I earn my wages, and the skills at obtaining information that I have employed in service of the Lantern Lodge. In the Taldans, I believe I have found an organization that will not question my methods, but will look only at results. As a follower of Shelyn, the amount of time and money the Taldans devote to art is also something that appeals to me. And, while the only Taldan opera I have attended was very poorly performed and ended in the deaths of many of the audience members, I believe that the fascination of the nobles with the performing arts and exotic cultures will serve me well in advancing and pursuing my own agenda. Perhaps I will even take this opportunity to open my own theatre, for among the Taldans, notoriety is as useful a weapon as secrecy.

In discussion with Master Li, I have been informed that before I may be allowed to retire from the Lantern Lodge, obtaining the title of Master for myself, there is one more task I must complete. The Pathfinders will soon send a group to Hinojai to a mansion that is somehow linked to the Way of the Kirin. Whether this is some favor to be performed for Iko and the Way of the Kirin or a method by which Master Li hopes to maintain an edge in the negotiations, I will perform this last task for her before pledging myself in service to the Great Taldan Empire.

(OOC the true neutral geisha Ninja just wouldn't feel at home somewhere like the Silver Crusade, but the Taldans should be able to make use of her skills. Also, she missed one faction mission in her career, and is one fame short of 40. Leaving the Lantern Lodge as a Master is important to her).

Silver Crusade

I have some work to do finishing things up for Master Li, but then I will be heading for the silver crusade. Their charity work seems much in line with Andoletta.

(OOC, I'm also pushing to hit the 40 fame for Master, but it's going to be a close push to get there in time.

I'm considering using the free switch to go to grand lodge, apply my extra trait boon to pick up observant, then paying the 18 prestige to switch to silver crusade. Is there an easier trait that gives perception as a class skill?)

When you reach 40 fame, you may spend 10 prestige for the title of Master. This also bestows a permanent +2 initiative bonus.

(OOC) Yeah, if it were fewer Prestige, I'd do it just for the title. But at 10 prestige for an untyped +2 bonus to initiative, it's no brainer and one of the best vanities in the book. Especially for a ninja and since she's only 1 Fame away from qualifying for it (Stupid Qadiran mission requiring Intimidate! Otherwise she could have changed factions after Way of the Kirin).

Liberty's Edge

Now that I have aided the honorable Amara Li one lassst time, in thisss bussinessss with the Way of the Kirin, it isss time to return to Abssalom and continue my work for the Pathfinder Sssociety without her.

Thisss isss a time of much change for me, while I have other thingsss to work out, apart from thisss. Everything I thought I knew may be wrong. I am not sure where to turn for guidancsse, or where to put my loyaltiesss.

Lantern Lodge

Brother Duncan "Pappy" Keller, Ambassador for Goka, Sadly switched to Silver Crusade right before heading off on the glorious Retirement arc. Only reason he didn't stay Lantern Lodge was because (my understanding of the boon) the boon doesn't happen until you switch out. I have my doubts that the Silver Crusade will appreciate just how persuasive Pappy can be. He has established more trade routes for Goka then I can count.

I at first thought about going to Taldor but then I wouldnt really be welcome with my being a Cleric of Sarenrae.

I plan to serve Amara Li until I am can no longer. When I am forced to make a choice, I am either going to join the Grand Lodge or maybe the Silver Crusade.

I have no interest in the petty squabbles of the Inner Sea nations. Thus, I will stick with the Grand Lodge so I am only beholden to one master, not two.

Lin Xiu Ying
Pharasma's Shadow

Silver Crusade

I still haven't decided which of the remaining factions to go to. I'm leaning Andoran or maybe even Silver Crusade. Most of the other nations and groups don't seem to line up with my personality.

Lantern Lodge

Lin Xiu Ying has spoken wisely ("I have no interest in the petty squabbles of the Inner Sea nations. Thus, I will stick with the Grand Lodge so I am only beholden to one master, not two.")

Still, I feel a debt of gratitude to the Andorans, who rescued me from Cheliax slavers and booked my passage back to Tian Xia when I was but a Level Zero lad. That said, I usually play this out by assisting them with their side-missions, and even came to their defense when the Way of the Kirin leader scoffed at the uncooth Westerners who assisted us on that nasty island. So I'm currently leaning towards The Silver Crusade, as I feel their values are most in line with mine. Plus a special wayfinder for 3 PP is a sweet deal. :-) I'll still come to the aid of the Andorans, and *ptooo* spit on Cheliax and the filthy devils they bow to.

The real question, though, isn't what faction are we going to join. No, my friends, the most pressing issue at hand is this: Where will we find authentic Tian food, what with Madam Li leaving Absolom? That chop suey stand Seelah runs? Please.

What you mammalsss call food doessn't conscern me. I am conscerned with carrying mysself with honor, aiding othersss, and bringing my ssword only to jusst and noble caussesss.

While Lin Xiu Ying'ss wordsss of loyalty to the Pathfinder Ssociety are honorable, I find mysself needing a reason for ssuch loyalty. When I joined the Ssociety, I was jusst looking to leave behind Tian Xia, and the village and nation that drove me out for being curssed, and make my way in the world. But sspending the last year as an adventurer working for the Ssociety and Lantern Lodge, I have had a chanssce to do real good in thisss world, ssuch as protecting innocent farmersss from disshonorable banditsss. Thisss is why I wanted to grow up to be a warrior when I wass a child!

Sso to continue ssuch good work, I am looking at either the Ssilver Crussade or Andoran. Both sseem like noble caussess, but the Ssilver Crussade appearsss to ssspend more time aiding the needy by feeding orphansss than hunting down evil doerss. While thisss isss noble work, I am a warrior looking for a jusst causse worthy of my sssword, not a pack animal looking to carry food to the needy. Ssso I am leaning towardsss joining the Andoran causse of liberty and freedom for all, actively ssseeking to free sslavesss and kill the cowardsss who prey upon the weak.

Have no fear, my friend. Mr. Tanuki has but one last mission to preform for Madame Li before remaining behind to carry on her work at the Grand Lodge in Absalom.

As an ardent student of the culinary arts, it would be his pleasure to prepare the succulent creations of Tian Xia for all to enjoy.

Allez cuisine!

Silver Crusade

Once I am released from my Lantern Lodge duties, I shall seek counsel from my companions the next time I am sent on a Society assignment and give them the opportunity to advance any faction they prefer.

Sovereign Court

I have adventured with the honorable Mr. Tanuki once before. His skills in the kitchen are indeed worthy of admiration, as are his inspiring words in battle.

My journey back to my homeland of Minkai and the investigation of the mansion called Hinojai went as well as could be expected. It was a difficult final task I performed for my beloved Lantern Lodge, bringing me quite near death were it not for the assistance of my fellow Pathfinders, but I feel that Madame Li will be pleased with what I uncovered. Perhaps the knowledge will win her favor with Iko and further improve negotiations.

It is my dishonor, however, to say that my final performance in my homeland did not go as well (Perform: Dance Day Job check: 9). It seems that my time in the West may have distracted me from the traditions I was taught.

It is my honor to have made my way to Goka following the events, where Madame Li bestowed upon me the title of Master before granting me my leave from her service. I feel as though I have achieved my goals, as well as those of the Lantern Lodge, and now it is time to set new ones. And so, as previously decided, I will return to Absalom, seek out the Lady Gloriana Morilla, and pledge myself in service to Taldor. I await my first assignment for that once noble empire.

Grand Lodge

Dear Amara Li,

Thank you for your kind offer of a letter of referral for my service to the Lantern Lodge - It has been an honour to work with you.

I have heard positive things about the Shadow Lodge faction lead by Grandmaster Torch (I helped him recover some statutes in Sedeq and I owe him a favour) so I was hoping your letter of introduction might ease my way ahead as I continue my walk down the open road.

Respectfully yours,

Turning toward the discussion he smiles broadly and begins, I have just returned from my last mission with Lady Amara Li. Though my allegiance will always lie with her, I do not know what avenue to follow next.

The Grand Lodge seems the safest bet, where the well-being of the Pathfinder Society stands as the primary concern. I shared some of Grandmaster Torch's concerns, but rumors have been circulating that he is coming to believe that his concerns have been sufficiently addressed.

Taldor, Cheliax, Qadira, and Osirion seem more interested in serving their politics and nations than they are interested in the success of the Pathfinder Society. I will admit, however, that my knowledge is limited, and that I have met many fellow Pathfinders that owe allegiance to those factions that seem above that.

Looks like the first time I did that with this character was July of 2012. Though looking back at my past posts, I wasn't entirely consistent in having him speak that way in every post. But it has definitely been part of the character concept since day one, and I always talk that way when talking "in character" during games.

Silver Crusade

Mmm... I shall miss Master Li. She was most helpful in organizing a lone young woman's journey from Minkai to the Inner Sea, and the fortune I sought there has indeed come my way. My family's temple will soon enough be rebuilt, and to tell the truth, I considered returning home and taking the place I have been brought up to claim, watching over the shrine that is my heritage. Yet I have come to enjoy life on the road with my compatriots, and though the desire is selfish, I wish to continue my journey for now. Perhaps my ancestors will forgive me for doing so.

I became curious about the mission of the Silver Crusade some time ago. I recently contacted Dame Zadrian, despite my difficulties meeting with strangers: I knew her to be a woman who believes in rules and the law, just like myself, but I do not trust quickly. Neither does she, evidently, for she agreed to accept my allegiance if I were to participate on an excursion to a foreign land I have not visited yet. Hopefully, I can ignite a brilliant flame within that dark place, and prove to the Silver Crusade that I am as capable as any of their agents.

((Arashi's "mission" is the module The Midnight Mirror, which I should be playing on Sunday. Here's hoping she makes it out of her trial alive. And yes, I know there is a feminine rough equivalent for Master, but it always sounds weird to me to refer to anyone other than Zarta as Mistress.))

Sovereign Court

You hear a loud belch that smells of old spirits. This is followed by suprisingly coherent speech.

"I must say, I don't know. I only joined this Amara girl because she served such a good booze at her festival when I first joined this bunch. So, I guess I'll take up whichever place seems to serve the second best or something. I'm not really interested in that political type of stuff. But those fancy Silver Crusaders can keep their stuff, not my style at all. Ollystra seems like she has never tasted good ale in her life."

(OOC: I really don't know what to choose, Grand Lodge seems such a boring default choice, and Zabaleta is a Chaotic Neutral Drunken Brute/Beastmorph who joined the Society because she had s middle-age crisis, so nothing really fits).

I fear you may find them more akin to the golden league. I have observed them, on numerous occasions, shaking down noble and honorable merchants, and consorting with the type of wretches one finds in the worst dross houses of Magnimar.

Might I suggest, as an alternative, the esteemed and honorable Silver Crusade? Although, perhaps sometimes overzealous, they represent their cause with honor and dignity befitting a former Lantern Lodge colleague.

In truth, even Cheliax would be better, for though they serve evil, they do so honorably.
