Converting Arcanis

Has anyone started converting Arcanis to Pathfinder?

I converted the Elorii when the Advance Races Guide came out, I can dig around for the file if you'd like.

yes please

The conversion principle is to minimize changes to the essential flavor.

Does this conversion conserve enough essential flavor?

RACES
Dark-kin = tieflings
Dwarf (Solani) = dwarf
Elori (air) = sylph
Elori (earth) = oread
Elori (fire) = ifrit
Elori (water) = undine
Half-orc = half-orc
Human = human
Val = aasimar
Ssressen = nagaji

BONUS
- Maybe Dark-kin can add the Unnatural Aura in exchange for the bonus feat Fiendish Heritage

OTHER
The gladius, lorica, & Legionnaire feat can convert without changes to game mechanics

thoughts?

There's a d20 version of Arcanis that preceded the Arcanis RPG. That should make a good start for conversion. Check out the product list here or here

Thanks. I have most of the books and played it for years. I believe that the rules are effectively 3.5. I'm trying to make the short jump to Pathfinder without spending huge amounts of time to convert.

cheers

The original version of Arcanis was 3.5, then when 4th came out, Paradigm decided that they w eren't going to hitch their wagon to anyone else's game system and came out with an entirely different game system for their world that used every dice BUT D20.

Well, there you go.

Any comments on my quick and dirty conversion from Arcanis 3.5 to current Pathfinder?

Well it's definitely dirty. Why not just use the Elori as elori instead of shoving them into these illfitting Golarion races? Simmilar arguments apply to Val and Dark-kin. Just making them into standard Asimar and Tieflings really kills their distinct flavor. You really could have just tweaked the 3.5 Arcanis races and they'd have been ready to go.

And Dreamscarred already has done the heavy lifting of updating psionics for you.

Well, we could just give every race an extra +2 stat bonus from the Arcanis 3.5. Or just cover it in point-buy.

Hmmm.

That pretty much would bring them up to line with Pathfinder races.

OK. I think +2 stat bonus for all races and a 25-point buy would align Pathfinder with the Living Arcanis character creation.

An Altharian gunslinger would be fun. A legionnaire magus. Decisions, decisions...

Rummage, rummage to find all those awesome modules...

Now that ability scores are set and races as written, let's look at the new Pathfinder classes for Arcanis:

Alchemist - hmm. maybe not a great fit
Cavalier - good fit with mounted peoples of the hinterlands and knights
Gunslinger - Altherian!
Inquisitor - good fit for an alternative to cleric
Magus - Elori and Val fighter/wizards
Oracle - good fit for an alternative to cleric
Summoner - good fit for Elori and Vals, especially Sarishans
Witch - replacement to adepts and alternative to wizards

cheers
