Besides having to go to cons to compete for the race boons they are holding is there any way shops or online pfs can get those boons for maybe holding large events with a lot of people to compete for those boons? Does anyone know if it's possible to get boons besides the cons?

I know we over in the PFS forums kept asking you to post your Rules Questions in this forum, but for this question you are probably better going back over there.

Liberty's Edge

I purchased the book. Can I purchase a racial boon. I would like to start an Aasimar.

They are not for sale.

You may get either an aasimar or tiefling boon if you volunteer to GM at a con this year.

Not really a fan of Cons, just don't like the large crowds. Why exactly does PFS only seem to enable the other races for the Convention players?

I am also not a fan of cons, but if I were to guess at the reasons that the race boons are only available at cons, there would be a few.

1: Control the release of special con boons to maintain their value. If you are a slot 1 GM giving up your soul for 4 days and your reward was a race boon you could get for showing up at your local we be goblins game, there would be little value to it. Which leads to...

2: Get people to volunteer to GM at cons. There are many more only players than there are GMs, this problem is multiplied at cons. They give out boons for GMing to tempt more people into GMing.

3: To tempt new players into the game. The large cons of more non-PFS players that can be tempted and swayed by special unique to this con rewards for trying out a new game they may get hooked on.

On the subject of race boons, the vast majority of them are given to GMs at conventions. However, this year will see the inclusion of the first ever (to my knowledge) release of Gameday boons, where there are potentially races. (I have no idea, I don't think any have been released yet) Also, there is at least 1 scenario that opens up a non-Core race.

Also, with the exception of the race boon on a chronicle sheet. The race boons are trade-able. Many people do trades of boons for boon (or possibly something else) via these boards, but I've also seen a (pretty rare) race boon traded for a hand-painted mini. Generally, trades like that (in my experience work better in a face-to-face setting). There are also a number of people who give away some of their boons to people when they do something special for their community. I know locally a number of people have gotten race boons that have never GMed a con. Having them be the GM boon though is a nice pull for GMs to come do conventions.

To count as a con, you need to host 15 tables over a weekend. So if you have an enthousiastic game day (5 tables in the morning slot and five in the midday slot for two days), you already qualify for boon support.
You do need to contact Tonya to get the boons.

While we do not know yet what exactly they will be, an older thread ended with the PFS brass looking into the creation of a way to reward game day GMs. I know that one idea that was kicked around was a way to unlock races with a mechanic that is similar to the way that faction journal cards work. There was also talk of rotating which noncore races were available to everyone.

There was already a rotation of non-core races once, it's certainly possible it could happen again.

Is there anyone who would be willing to part with a tiefling boon? please contact me.

You'll probably have better luck here than in a two year old thread.
