I'm making a sixth level character for a game I'm in. I already have a Dwarf Drunken Weapon Adept who is focused on trips, but the GM is allowing us to have "alts" that we swap in and out for, and even though I love my monk no one in the group is willing to step up to the plate and bring any amount of healing to the table. So that's what I'mma do.

That said, I don't know how to proceed with my character. I prefer Spontaneous spellcasting to Prepared spellcasting because I am lazy, but I haven't found an Oracle that works for me. My ultimate problem is that of my group of friends, I am the only team player. Everyone else is speccing out their characters without the rest of the party in mind, so I need to make a character who encourages team play among everyone. When I played my aforementioned Monk, I was the only character giving our ninja his flanking bonus, so whatever I play needs to be able to do that too. My monk is trip-focused which was nice, but I don't know if I want two trip-oriented characters.

So, to sum up:
I want to play an Oracle who can wade into the front lines without worrying about dying, act as a team player by providing bonuses to my allies (preferably without using all of my spells on doing so since I'll be in casting defensively range), and provide healing to my group.

Anyone have any ideas? •-•

Well you can definately do this as a Oracle. I am a fan of the dual cursed for the misfortune as it can be used on friends too. It is the ulitmate aid ability.

Battle or life oracle is probably the way to go. You could also use a reach weapon. That means you can provide flanking and still cast spells.

I would probably make a life oracle that use a reach weapon with a low strength. Then 5' step still threaten and cast. Then if your team bites is hurting channel to heal. I would proabbly blast cha and use spells like command to further aide your team. Command them to drop prone is just like a trip and works on flying creatures.

Life Oracle

S: 16 D: 14 C: 14 I: 10 W: 10 Ch: 15 (20pt human, +1 CHA @ 4th)

Revelations:
- Channel (1st)
- Life Link (3rd)
- Energy Body (3rd)

Feats:
- Selective Channeling (human)
- Toughness (human)
- Extra Revelation (3rd)
- <select a feat to complement your style> (5th)

This gives you a solid basis for healing the party. However, healing shouldn't be your only forte, or it grows boring. Since you wanted to be a flanker, I wrote it up to be strong enough to be able to hit something and have defenses to take a hit.

Spells:

1st - Bless, Shield of Faith, Divine Favor, ...
2nd - Grace, Inheritor's Smite, Lesser Restoration (mystery spell), ...
3rd - Prayer

ehh, if you wanna be a team helper I would dump str more and buff cha.

You can wear medium armor and use a buckler with your shield. The high cha will give you lotsa spells. You do not really hope to kill you hope to mess the bad guys day up with command and then making people harder to hit with shield of faith. Then channel when needed.

1st spell. Command, bless, shield of faith

S 8(10)
d 14
c 14
I 10
w 12(10)
ch 18 +2 human

get a long spear so you threaten a square away so you can cast spells without threat.

If you really wanted to power game you could dump into too and go for a 19 or 20 cha for more spell power.
