Grand Lodge 2/5

I liked this scenario. The table I ran was low-tier and I think things went well.

The first wave was very easy for them, but the two max damage axe attacks made everyone nervous.
The alchemists were nasty, the explosives dropped a good portion of the party very low on health.
I was very excited about the BBEG, but was absolutely crushed in initiative and he nearly dropped in one round.

All in all, it was fun. The players seemed to need a bit of prodding to actually set up defenses, and luckily Cheliax was there to thin the herd a bit.

Question about second encounter.

Spoiler:
If a character breaks the window and is watching out it, rather than standing next to it, is it still base DC30 to notice the ninjas, or what not, or do normal stealth/perception rules apply?

If a player is specifically looking out the window for attackers, I don't think there is any other cover or concealment for the ninjas to use for a Stealth check. That would make it an auto-success to notice.

Kind of what I thought. How it played out:

Spoiler:
They snuck in above him through the broken window and got a surprise round. Just about dropped him in one hit.

The Exchange 5/5

I played this at low level, with a Tiefling Alchemist (Crypt Braker)

great fun & a minor disappointment:

Getting to swap bombs with more than one Alchemist, from inside a darkness spell, while relying on Fire Resistance 5 to absorb part of the damage = fun! Having the judge turn to me as they start throwing bombs to ask advice on how an alchemist targets ("...yeah, he can target me by shooting near me...") - and knowing he trusts me not to slant my answer to the parties benifit = priceless. Defeating 4 Alchemsts and not recovering a formula book... sigh. Ah well...

Very good game! I need to read and prep this one, to see what I missed as a player.

If he broke one of the windows facing the cliff face and was looking out it, I would probably give some kind of bonus to the Perception check. Keep in mind though, it's at night and there is a constant rain with concealment so they can still use stealth.
