If we are to succeed, the appointed leader must live, and since she is a mind mage, she needs protection so she can do her part.

Kemnebi flashes Nebibit one of his cheerful grins as she leads the way down the hall towards Thoren and Llivenoc. The mage then reaches a free hand towards June and asks, "Coming, M'lady?" With his usual feline grin.

Sorry friend dwarf it had slipped my mind that you dont know what I specialize in. I am a Trapsmith, I disarm traps. As to the vision part, I do have a source of light that I could use but carrying around a torch makes it difficult for stealthy movement.

"I don't know what else has joined the fight above, but we do know that a dragon and a dracolich were about to tangle when we first came in. That was in the bathhouse, which Kosan told us is up those stairs. So anywhere but there would be preferred. Once Llvenoc and Thoron get that door worked open, let's hope it leads somewhere away from here. If not, we should hurry with the search, but there is still the other hallway, going the other way from the T that we haven't looked at yet.

"I think Llvenoc, ThoronHen and Kosan should take the front. With Thoron's senses and Kosan and Llvenoc's fighting skills, they should give us ample time to ramp up against whatever may be ahead of us. And Kosan would have a distinct advantage over most of the rest of us in these environs."

"The Leprechaun King? That reminds me of a story...well now is perhaps not the time. Though given all this Lady this and Lady that you were talking about, I thought it was the Queens that sent you. Ah well, its much easier to deal with him in the event we run into him than those majestic ladies."

"If that is the case though, its pretty obvious the interest in Namaste then...I dont really understand this...mmmm...Sidhe demeanor of yours though, I mean, I doubt the Leprechaun King would find it terribly funny or representative of him. But I guess, you are a Puck after all."

Looking at all the people piling into the hallway, many of which desiring to be the first to encounter what lies beyond the door, Kalona thinks it best not to get in their way and so does not enter the hallway. Rather two of the skeletons stand to the side of the entrance (about 5' away) and keep watch (the point command) for anything coming from another doorway and Kalona will be on the last skeleton right next to the hallway leaning over to be able to see what is going on but able to quickly withdraw if there is a mass exidous...um strategic retreat. fireball, lightning bolt or similar unpleasentry coming up the hall.

Not I sister; I shall stand next to Astinos and feel the assuradness of his aura; he may need me to hold his staff or rod or sword on once again some vial of blessed ointment.

as you wish then, my sister. Oh magi mine, would you have me hold your staff or rod or blessed ointment?

Anyone see where that bat went? is it just my perspective or is this a strange group; not a druid or ranger about yet bats, cats, birds, spiders, and so on.

<she stops at the top of the stairs; holds up her hands to the dark cieling, her lips move in whispered solemn prayer of cleansing "I am unworthy oh master; strengthen my resolve" she puts a small bowl from the room on the floor, uses a fingernail and cuts a small slash in each arm and her neck. In a soft but clear voice: "Oh Master, send me too a pet of your choosing that I may learn to fit in with the menagerie of this group, perhaps a cat to play and hunt, may the unworthy sacrifice of my lifeblood cover the stench of my failures and you most worthy master hear my plea, Mother hear me, Father and Master grant thy child this boon companion">

blood tricks from her wounds; drips into the bowl from each wrist; but the neck flows freely but something strange happens; the blood on her neck dissappears and doest even reach her scant clothing; she seems unconcerned. Where it goes; no one knows. Her wounds quickly heal; no evidence of ever being wounded; not even blood on her skin.

she stands with her eyes open but staring into the darkness of the ceiling expectant and confident.

10; 9; 8; 7, 6, the count winds down.... A low moan can be heard that is not of this world coming from the room; a cool wind can be felt blowing up the stairs, but does not move any cloth or hair or the like; just a stiring of the living soul within you feels the cold wind. The hallways seems more opressive and dark; alone yet cramped as if a hundred strangers were also in the hall with you...

In the Mindlink Well, Thoron checked the door, and readied his weapon. He gave us warning of what may lay ahead. He did not mention any traps. So I have to trust there aren't any to mention. Thoron don't prove me wrong in placing my trust.

Does the door open toward me, or into the next room? I continue my count. 16-15-12-11...

I smile. In the Mindlink, seeing if you all are paying attention. 14-13-10...5-4-3-2-1 I attmept to open the door.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

you dont see the hinges; so you thinking into the room; door is not locked or barred so opens; yet slowly; heavy door and tight fitting; takes both hands and a good strong pull.

opens to the inside of a pit; the pit is 20 feet wide and 10 ft deep; there are stairs at each side going up the ft foot distance to the room level; there is a 10 ft high brick wall in front of you which is 5 ft high in the room.

Any player with tactics or warrior levels would think this is a good place to kill or get killed if defended; the wall allows archers or spearmen to attack from above and the side stairs would turn those entering; the room looks to give a good tactical advantage of height and slows advance.

luckily; the pit seems empty and their are no apparent defenders; this room is cold; bit if ice glazes the steps; any entrace other than a walk will require balance check; ie; slippery.

the room itself is round; table and benches in the center; smell like decayed flesh; Kosan knows this is where the ghouls came from; smells like ghoul; there is rotted flesh and bones in here; on the table and floors; also older wet stains of killing; much garbage of cast off clothing; bones; rot; and skeletal pieces of various creatures; snakes; dog like things; humanoids; lot of clutter.

4 iron candelabras have old candle stubs; lots of old spider webs; room is not lit; cieling is round; center is 30 ft high; walls 10ft high; relative left weapons rack has a few long spears; right rack has some swords and bows; the bin has some arrows; all look old; rusted; and poor condition.

there is a normal door leaving the room

Well; until the pic I sent gets posted...

the room is round; rectangular table near the center; lots of blood stains.

the mist draws into itself at the far end of the room; a faint translucent being appears.

It is about 7.5 ft tall but hunched; dressed in leather and steel armor and has a long runic glaive. It looks like a Gnoll; it leans on the glaive and appears to be eating a haunch of something bloody; it casts it aside and it lands with a squish then fades from vie.

"so we, we finally meet <it says is a eerie, barking voice> I have been waiting. Did you bring it? Lets see it. <it laughs very emotionally> Yes, to restore our Great Master after all this time, quickly fool; show it to me; we must move quickly; I ate a human a few days ago who swore on his life <maniacle laugher> that they were going to use it to restore some other human god."

the mist swirls into several other balls that yip and snarl but not yet visible as anything; the Gnoll leans his staff sideways and snarls behind him "Get Back To Your Place Cur, NOW!" another nearly 8ft shimmers back a step or two.

it looks right into your eyes Llevnoc; madness lays there.

it nods, "agreed" it reaches into its sachael and brings out a hideous artifact; a very large black shriveled heart. it gets angry "I told you; I was there...<it has a distant look> there serving the master...there in the vast depths of the Abyss with Him when those two blasphemers came and murdered our lord; I survived; how could I not take his heart but it still had power; how could I not seek to become the new Master of Ghoul and Gnoll?; now yours; did you bring your part Aelithiss you sniveling worm of a snake."

<Sigh> Postmonster strikes again. I had a long write up responding to June's actions. Short version,...

After being alerted to June's actions by his familiar, Kemnebi quickly moves to her, panicked at first, then confused, relieved and intrigued when her wounds heal on their own. He asks her why she did that, then hurries and takes her with him back to the line at the door, whispering for her to stay near him, and be careful,...

The door opens,...

Kemnebi lets out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding as Llivenoc steps into the room and gives a clear description. As they slowly file into the room, he nods as Nebibit and the dwarf go to the other stairway, but drifts right after Llivenoc. He keeps his distance so he has a clear field of fire, keeping his staff leveled the entire time.

Does he see what Llivenoc sees? Yet,...?

ok; those of you who know about such things; common knowlege is a ghost can kill you; at a 10; +2; ghosts age you and cause fear; +2 more; ghosts are hard to hurt but cannot touch you unless manifested; +2; some ghosts have magical ability to affect you even when not solid; +2; ghosts have a horrific appearance that can cause fear; also; they can possess and unwilling host. +2 more they can be fought on the etheral plane normally, +2 more; ghosts cannot be killed permanantly unless their bones are laid to rest and/or their task at death is completed. +2 more; a ghost is not stopped by walls or anything solid and can quite literally pursue you in vengence anywhere for all time. +2 more; a ghost can be negotiated with if you can figure out what it needs and send it in pursuit of its goals. Though for a CE one like this gnoll; it is a murderous bastage so good luck with that.
