I am so confused what to do after playing the beginner box - How do I find a structured and organized overview of what adventures I can play, for the different player-levels?

Beginner Box

Hey guys.

I am trying to get my head around this. Please correct me if I am wrong, but after playing the beginner box with my friends, I assume there are tons of prewritten adventures to play (even including written and sold by Paizo?) Right?

If yes, where do I find them? Is there a website that has an organized and structure overview of all the "buyable" campaigns / adventures and to what character level they are aimed for?

I read in the PDF "Beginner Box GM Kit" that there is an adventure called "Crypt of the Everflame" that is suitable for 1st-level characters. But that seems to be a "module" (what-ever that means) belonging to the Pathfinder Society category..

I am just so confused. How do I find a structured and organized overview of what adventures I can play, for the different player-levels?

There are no adventures for sale, written exclusively for the Beginner Box*. You will need to purchase a module or Adventure Path or even a Pathfinder Society scenario and use it for your campaign. Just ignore any rules not covered by the BB. Just because the adventue isn't labled for the BB doesn't mean you can't use it.

Each adventure will indicate it's level or level range in it's description on this website. You can find adventures under the links on the left of this page. Try:

Adventure Paths
Modules

There are also a few free adventures in the Pathfinder Society section for level one characters.

* There are some third party adventures written for the BB. Check some earlier threads in this section.

You can buy the first book of any of paizo's adventure paths from this very website. They are indeed written with the full version of the game in mind, but you can get all the rules for that here for free.

Oh, I know the beginner box is just the start and you have to buy the complete core rulebook, etc.

Mortuum; I assumed you can. But where can i get an overview of all the adventure paths? That whats confusing me, I don't know what page to visit.

Ok, I will rephrase the question. My player group is around level X.

- What is the easiest way to get an overview of all the adventures/modules/etc that we can play, suited for level X?

Sovereign Court

To avoid confusion, the beginners box is like a beginners cookbook. You can continue to make light quick dishes or you can now begin study of the culinary arts by reading the CORE RULEBOOK.

If you wish to keep making adventures at the beginner level, just use the monsters contained therein, and reference the beginner box materials for the rules, without the need to go further. Playing at that level is relatively easier. Stories should be fairly easy to generate in your own imagination, or you can pull ideas from any published Pathfinder module or adventure path.

Based on your original questions though, don't look for specially marked beginners box adventures. Any adventure can be used with the beginners box, and arguably any adventure ever published by any company ever... with just a little modification. Change a monster here and there, and ignore any complex rules, sticking to just the basics shown in the beginner box.

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately, they don't have a convenient "sort by level" function. This page is a good place to start, but you'll need to read the description of each module individually to check what level it's for. If you ask on the forums for a specific level range, you'll generally get a pretty swift answer. (Ie what is X? What level characters do your players have?)

"Module" is pretty much synonymous for "an adventure" so you're looking in the right places. The adventure paths are a series of six consecutive modules. they all start at level one, so the first instalment of any of them would be fine (the later instalments need the full rules).

A "Module" is an adventure that is designed to be played all by itself (or put into whatever campaign you are running. In the link Steve Geddes provided to the Modules page in the store, the first line of the preview description for each Module tells you the level, e.g. "A wilderness adventure for 7th-level Pathfinder Roleplaying Game characters."

(Edit: You can also check out the Pathfinder Modules page on Pathfinder Wiki for a table of modules that you can sort by level. This might be the closest thing to what you're looking for.)

An "Adventure Path" is a lengthy series of linked adventures, usually meant to be played from start to finish to get the full story. If you look at the list of Adventure Paths, you can see the description of each. Each one has 6 books; the first one always starts at Level 1 and the last one is usually around Level 15.

A "Pathfinder Society Scenario" is a short adventure meant to be played in one sitting, with some standards to ensure that characters can be easily compared and moved across gaming groups. They are released in "seasons" (like a TV show). If you look at the page of Season 1 Scenarios, for example, they all have "level tiers" listed in the summary -- the scenarios provide options within them so that you can either play them for a lower level or a higher level group with the same basic story.

Unfortunately, there's not really a one-stop shop listing everything by level.

Okay, now I understand much better how to access the different information I am seeking.

Thanks guys :-)
