Social Trait: "Adopted"

Rules Questions

Hello! I'd like to request some clarification on the social trait "Adopted". It says you may pick a race trait from another class. To be exact, does this refer to a trait listed under "Race Traits", or does it refer to the racial traits inherent to each species, such as the Dwarves' Stonecunning?

EDIT: For added clarification, I read it as the former, whereas my DM deems it is the latter. A quick search didn't turn up anything, so I do hope I'm not being redundant.

The first one.

Liberty's Edge

It refers to the traits that have the 'race' category, not the special racial abilities.

Thanks for the clarification! I'll direct my DM to this thread. :-)

This comes up all the time, no matter what I say to my players lol.

And if OP needs MORE proof, there are half a dozen threads in this section dealing with this trait. And even an FAQ I believe.

Silver Crusade

The real problem was the poor choice of wording when Paizo named these things. It's pretty easy to get "race traits" and "racial traits" confused.

Sounds like a good FAQ candidate.

Sczarni

It is seriously asked like once a week, and I've seen it posted in several forums.

There should just be a sticky posted titled, "READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST", and put the most common frequently asked questions there.

Race Traits should have been called something like Ethnic Traits instead. If you can pick them up by merely being adopted then they're not really inherent to race at all.
