Are devils and demons stupid?

Liberty's Edge

I am was looking through my bestiary and it suddenly hit me that everything that looks like a attractive human female had a role of seduction and betrayal. Why would any demon lord or arch devil let one of these creatures anywhere near him?

Because they are (or think they are) stronger.

They're not meant to target demon lords or arch devils, they're meant to target the mortal races and seduce them into signing away their souls.

Most or all of the aforementioned critters have an ability to change shape ... they may betray/seduce you as say ... a flumph ...

Arrogance.

More like confidence.

A CR 7 Succubus vs a CR X (Where X is above 20, because that's a Balor) Demon Lord isn't exactly a close match.

It doesn't matter if they're seductive if at the first sign of seduction/betrayal you can crush them with a couple of fingers.

It should be noted, several of the "attractive female" demon lords have killed other demon lords through acts of seduction as is. Most likely they take precautions, but the lower level ones really aren't a threat to the higher level ones at all. They are however useful for, you know, seducing mortals.

Hey, if you're a demon lord or archdevil, why not take advantage of the fact that succubi and the like try to manipulate you? There are some benefits in the relationship for you too, after all ;)

Someone hasn't seen Tangled.

Not in a while, no.

Is there a statement anywhere in the entries that implies devils and demons are targeted by these creatures?

I'd also like to point out the various angels and azatas that look like fairly attractive female humans and elves.

If you were evil, power hungry, and had vast capabilities for seduction and manipulation, why would you not.

In PF, erinyes devils are female and beautiful, but they're pretty much the Furies from Greco-Roman myth. They are vengeful female warriors that kill first and ask questions... never. They don't have any real role as a seducer.

I think you might misunderstand me, or I might misunderstand you.

The OP said that it seemed to him that every creature in the bestiary that looked like an attractive human female was built around seduction and deception (I don't think there's necessarily a case but I'll roll with it).

I'm not understanding the jump to "it makes no sense for devils and demons to let them anywhere near them, they must be stupid", as if there's some indication that devils and demons are constantly being seduced somewhere.
