Greetings I Vereor Nox (Formerly Noskavian -- Decided to change forum name to that of my in-game character)
I am looking to join up with a guild/charter company/planned settlement. group.
I have been reading through Nihimon's List of Charter companies to try and find one (thank you btw)
Some companies that caught my eye:
Cærux Khaiognos "The Seventh Veil"
(although if I go LE like planned I would be rejected.)
Tony's Totally Legitimate Breadmaking Business
(sounds great like how its mafia/hitman/assassin themed, however I am not sure
of the seriousness and if its CE NE or LE or what sort of alignment and philosophy besides keeping the trade secret bread spices secret)
Shadow-Haven
(I love shadow themed things, I would join the Umbral Court as an assassin faction if allowed, but they seem to have a focus on the arcana and necromancy not something my character may care too much about)
The Bloody Hand
(I like their rules however I would like to be a part of a fully fleshed out settlement)
Ideally I would be a Member of a Lawful Evil Settlement with high reputation, strong code of conduct and ruthlessly efficient with lawfully contracted assassinations, slavery, ect...
(I'm aware that fulfilling such contracts may be criminal outside of the settlement)
I want to play a Lawful Evil Assassin, with high reputation and a strong code. I want to be well known as an honest and friendly person who won't lie. I just deal in death it is my trade and profession.

We wouldn't reject you at TSV, we have no alignment restrictions, our pursuit is knowledge. I'm not exactly sure what is going on with shadow haven, I think it's more of an idea at the moment, Ravening is part of TSV and if Shadow Haven is created it will bud off from us.
It's up to you to decide who to join, I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with this post, register on the organizations forums, talk to them and see who you like best.

That is great to hear, I was thinking settlements had alignment restrictions.
Sorry I am a bit new to this form. Thanks for the tip, I will look for the organization forums of the listed Charter Company
Additionally if anyone is in a Carter Company that isn't on Nihimon's awesome list and think I would fit they could bring it to my attention :)

Not at all! As Valkenr stated, we have no alignment restrictions whatsoever. We may not be able to provide a Settlement for you right away, but we are definitely interested in providing a home for Evils (provided they're not griefers).

Might be possible for TSV to be a NN town that would normally Disallow the extreme alignments but TSV can "white-list" non-supported alignments to make an exception. Course that would only be needed if settlements are alignment restricted
Settlements are indeed Alignment-restricted. However, it appears that The Seventh Veil's Shadow-Haven may be the only Evil-aligned Settlement currently announced on these forums. It likely won't be our first priority, but it's something we're committed to doing.

I'm actually surprised to see an intended assassin publically post w/ their character's name -- I'd imagined that the only ones who publically revealed themselves would be the 'inactive' types who acted as the faces of the guilds and never carried out a hit themselves... they just set up the contracts and passed them along. I figured that a name would be an assassin's most valued commodity... interesting to see that play out. ;)
Nihimon, communities can host characters w/in two alignment steps away from them - wouldn't that suggest that a TN community could host any alignment? Since TSV is dedicated to knowledge it already seems like a TN Company... or am I missing something somewhere?

Actually, the Alignment Requirement is that characters must be within one non-diagonal step from the Settlement's Alignment.

Possibly. It's something we're actively discussing. And, naturally, we won't make any firm plans until we're actually in Early Enrollment; the system is just too volatile right now to try to make firm plans, or to try to document anything.
It's certainly a possibility that we'll end up starting out with a True Neutral Settlement, and eventually expand into a True Neutral Player Nation. It's even possible that we'll branch out and meta-sponsor additional Player Nations so that we can develop LG, CG, and NG Settlements, or we might simply develop strong ties with other Player Nations to cover those bases. Or our attempt even to develop an initial Settlement might fail spectacularly with an abundance of humiliation for all involved. It's really too soon to say :)

@Tertiary When I don the mask of the assassin I will lose my identity. Every assassin could potentially be Vereor Nox. Thus everyone should Fear the Night (Vereor Nox). I would like the name to be a house hold term as well as a boogeyman. Of Course my aspiration is high, possibly to high but I will shoot for the top.

That's all true, Vereor, and clever and fun... I hope to be able to support you if I go that way because I suspect assassins are (too often) going to get shafted by the metagame. ie. I know that Vereor Nox is an assassin... so when I toggle my champion tag on, I'm just going to /track Vereor and kill him since I already know that fellow is evil (assuming there is (as usual) not a good version of assassins.) And unattainable goals are the best! They mean you always have something to strive for!! If you meet all your goals, where's the fun left in life???
@Nihimon; Wow... so it is. I think I misread it because that seems a bit strict for settlement alignment... but, I suppose this isn't the thread for that. Thanks for setting me straight, though!!
Good luck finding a Company, Nightfear! I'll stop hijacking your thread now! ;)

I think Tertiary's dismay was related to the times when you don't wear the Assassin's Mask, when your name will (probably) be known to other players.
Personally, I am very impressed with an Assassin who's willing to use a famous name. I don't know if Blaeringr is planning on having a character in-game with that name, but if he did, I would be extremely impressed.

I think I will go the other way and accept a procedurally generated name, doing my best to keep my identity secret. I will probably go so far as to contract out a hit on someone to be fulfilled by Vereor Nox, if I can, in order to hide my career.
Tony's sells bread, so I might shop there on occasion, too, just so that fact gets around.

Its a Possibility, Not sure if I want to give up my Anonymity when hunting by bringing someone who knows me with me.
But if the situation calls for it, that may be a necessity, especially at lower power levels.
As far as Advertisement goes. Word of Mouth.
Word of mouth spreads, The story grows, the story becomes legend, the legend becomes fantastical.
When a Rich merchant wants to make someone who wronged him feel his wrath, He will call upon the legend.
Hopefully with persistence, determination, and a hell of a lot of time dedicated to advancing in stealth and assassination.
Perhaps one day, I will become that legend.
How do you plan to advertise, my good sir?

I'm going to be working with a well-known group so I imagine that will help. Beyond that, I intend to socialize and put my Philosophy degree to use -- "you know, assassination is a very logical solution to your problem, and I happen to have some connections that could help with that..."
I'm new to MMOs (this will be my first one), so I'm looking forward to seeing what other techniques come up.

I've looked at the newer versions, just reading over the expansions. They look like utter trash. Spell weaver which is a spell book that is ment to let players weave spells together for more power, however all you do is get in a circle buff the spells by the number of players and never see each other again until you die and look for a new group.
then they added gargoyles who can fly and chill out in gargoyle only places because no one else can fly -_-
UO received The Touch of EA. EA destroyed that game IMO.
