Sandbox Adventure in Katapesh

Advice

I'm in the middle of creating a sandbox game for my group initially set in the country of Katapesh. My group wanted to get out of the ever constant temperate forest and wintery settings our current APs have us running through (RotRL and Jade). From what I've read/seen Katapesh has a diverse variety of areas to explore, mountains and hills to the north and west, vast plains in the middle, a decent urban area, a coastline to the east, and a desert and marshland to the south. I have the Inner Sea World Guide, but I was wondering if there is any other information that I can gain on the country, its lands, cities, and people.

Any information you provide is much appreciated.

Thank you.

First of all, there is Dark Markets, which describes the city of Katapesh, and then there is House of the Beasts, which provides a regional gazzeteer, expanding on the one in the Legacy of Fire players guide.

The module Broken Chains is set in the city, as are these PFS scenarios.

you might also want to check out some of the TornWorld stuff. I have been playing it with its creators and its has so much variety and is insanely open.

Check out the recommend a generic adventure thread for generic adventures adaptable for any campaign. Though adapting to arabian/katapeshi flavor will probably take a bit more work.

For Osirioni resources check out Hamunaptra ($5 for the print version boxed set here on paizo), and further links to great threads in my post here.

Liberty's Edge

Dark Markets covers all of Katapesh, not just the city.

The first three chapters of the Legacy of Fire all have great info on Katapesh.

You are right, of course. Sorry, it has been a while since I have read the book.

Dark Markets is pretty good. It has a nice mix of characters and plot hooks, along with a fair number of open-ended mysteries. (Just what /is/ the story behind those two statues?)

Mind, sandbox requires a fair amount of preparation, especially if your players don't immediately bite on plot hooks.

You're in the right place, everywhere you look there is sand...

The info is for me, my players will be starting their adventure in absolom. After a run in with a kraken they will awaken in the shores of Katapesh

Thanks to everyones' suggestions, I bought the Dark Marrkets PDF and it has been super rewarding.
