Using Reduce Person on a Halfling Cleric to ride in a Barbarian's backpack

Rules Questions

My Halfling Cleric is having a hard time keeping up with his Barbarian friend in combat. I can usually stay close enough for channel energy but sometimes a real heal spell is needed. What I was thinking is that I could commission an item with Reduce Person to reduce my size to Tiny and just ride in his backpack for pocket heals.

How would this affect my character in terms of riding in the backpack? It's not a traditional saddle, so would I be considered Entagled? Maybe Grappled?

Instead of shrinking yourself... How about enlarging the Barbarian? Early on in my Halfling Alchemist's Pathfinder Society career, while storming a small fort, he rode on a enlarged barbarian's back, throwing bombs, then effortlessly jumped on to the 10' adjacent wall. That was fun.

Furs baby & Halfling Carrier

The most basic of baby/Halfling carrying cold-weather gear, animal furs serve to keep their babies and Halflings warm. Wearing this fur carrier on body provides they baby/Halfing being carried a +2 bonus on Fortitude saves to resist cold weather. This does not stack with any bonuses gained from Paraphilic infantilism.

I thought about that as well, which would normally be a better solution, but the question remains, would the Halfling be stricken with any sort of condition for riding in a backpack vs a saddle?

A tiny-sized halfling could certainly occupy the same square as his medium or large-sized companion, but could the same be said of a small-sized halfling in a large-sized creature's space?

Your reduced halfling is a tiny creature. A Tiny creature (ie: a familiar sized creature) can ride in a Familiar Satchel (UE p64, 25gp, 6lbs, provides total cover).

As a GM I would say you can ride in it and leave the top open. You wouldn't have Total Cover (probably just improved or normal) but you would stay with the barbarian that way.

Alternately, some halflings have a 30' move speed via the Alternate Racial Trait 'Fleet of Foot'. Perhaps you can petition your GM to let you tweak your halfling's Racial Traits. Then, you can use one of the various methods for bumping up your speed to 40' to keep up with the Barbarian (such as Boots of Striding and Springing).

Not as long as his light mace rattles when he shakes it. :p

If I was GMing I'd make you roll a ride check

JHEIMBUR, here you go: Familiar Satchel

Mazlith, would you do the same thing to a wizard's familiar? That is what we are talking about here.

I agree that is what you're talking about here. I'm mostly talking about other stuff.

Gauss: Can you stat up that Hafling Light Mace Baby Rattle for us?

This is such a fun thread. :D

I believe something similar to the concentration checks when riding or on a boat in storming weather would be included.

Mazlith, LOL, ok: Battle Aspergillum

Replace holy water with 'beads' and you are set. Of course, it will only rattle while bashing people over the head. :)

Raymond, it would probably be closer to the Concentration checks while mounted and moving. But it would be GM fiat territory.

I've heard the term 'pocket Medic' used in Team Fortress 2 before, but THIS is taking it to the next level!

Oooooo. You do good work

Is that a cleric in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

Just ride piggyback. You're a big boy now, no need for the baby carrier!

How about an exotic saddle? I think halflings as small creatures can ride medium creatures anyway^^

Does the name "Nunu" say something to you? :)

This is pretty sweet. I would however require concentration checks. Galloping horse and raging barbarian in combat are somewhat comparable?
