Looks like both parties have pretty much wrapped, with Alpha now sitting at Silverhall. So on that note, thanks for being a fun couple of groups, and I hope you enjoy any further sessions you get into this game-day.

Great game, Shifty! And thank goodness Grim doesn't have a new pet dog... =)

With this adventure Grim levels up! FYI, his ability bonus goes to CON, his bonus feat is Weapon Specialization, and he's finally saved enough coin to sell his mwk greatsword and buy an adamantine greatsword!

VC - Sydney, Australia

Huzzah Grim!

Will no doubt see him in the next game :)

Ok guys, deactivating thread - any dramas please contact me via PM :)

Have a great Christmas!

**Note for RUNELORDS***

Housekeeping

* I am expecting at least 4 confirmed players to ensure the AP is viable.

* Levelling will be done per the ‘story progression’ system rather than via XP allocation, and we will generally be adhering to WBL. I am considering simply abstracting the loot allocation system and handing out GP instalments as we progress to keep you on track and ensure loot is not an in game issue.

* Maps will be done via Googledocs, and the players will move their own counters during their turn and make any necessary diagrams etc.

* I am a fan of the fast paced game, and wont slow the story down to deliberate over non-game progressing – shopping is handled OOC, likewise I assume the party is made up of people with common sense, so will jog them along if the story allows. Likewise I assume the party has a magic item checker who is capable of identifying items.

* I am especially looking for people that can check in on the thread at least once a day and maintain a level of activity and decisiveness, I will aim to resolve posts by 10pm each day (Sydney time! UTC+10:00)
Check your relative times here, if you are required to but haven’t posted, your actions will be resolved in a ‘logical and sensible manner’

* I understand that 'things happen', so ask that players let me know in advance where possible with a simple post ('Work this weekend, will be busy' etc)

What do you need to post now to indicate you are ‘in’.

A complete expression includes the following:
* Full stat-block and at least some basic character info (I don’t expect a whole Game of Thrones, just who/what/where/when/why as a minimum, ‘family slain by orcs’ optional)
* Extended details on their Character Settings in their Class/Level field on the forums here.
Details: Class Level | AC XX T XX FF XX | HP XX/XX | F +X R +X W +X | Init +X
You may also expand on this should you wish to include other personal data.
* I expect the AP to formally begin on Monday 30th of March, though in game chat etc is fine until launch.

Boom...shakalaka...

I'm in, and am happy either to dust off Caterine, or cobble together something else to fit in the gaps.

Shifty - is the ACG fair game?

VC - Sydney, Australia

The ACG is fair game, as is any other official Pathfinder content (ie as long as its not 3PP it is legit).

What I don't want is waves of summoned creatures or any other chicanery - and I'm not into undead armies or anything obviously 'broken'.

Please start off at L8.
Standard WBL.

I'll be up front and say that Crafting is not something I am that keen on, and as we will keep defaulting to WBL it is probably a waste of Feats - hence if you need to rejig, please do so.

Hope that clarifies.

Female Changeling(Hulking) Bard/10 (HP: 82/82; AC27; FF23; T14; F+7, R+11, W+7; Perc: +11, Init +10)

Party on. Will look at Ailetha. Since she has Craft Arms and Armor, will drop this and probably take Butterfly Sting which was her intention anyway. This will move Combat Expertise (the ultimate in waste yet required feats) to level 5.

Will have to look her over more to see if anything else needs to be updated.

Oh, and Shifty, thanks for taking this over, I look forward to moving on against the vile forces of evil.

Well its about damn time bub!

Right on, looking forward to this. Good to see you guys again.

I'll probably just keep Kabal as is. Unless there's something glaring against the rules that you see. Im not worried about PFS credits if thats ok? Or do you want us to be PFS legit?

edited - I'll probably drop the Urban Barbarian archtype if thats cool and maybe add another?

So there is a face smasher, a crit handing bard, a cleric... and no arcane yet.

Who else are we expecting / hoping to rock up in? - looks like I might plug the spellzapping hole if no other arcane options rock up.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

I will get Bree checked over to make sure she is up to date with everything. Looking forward to it!

*Begins sharpening knives.*

I believe Sable is planning to play. For those who didn't know, his house caught fire and he lost a lot of stuff. No one was hurt, but it's making it a bit difficult for him to do online stuff atm. That's being resolved, and in the meantime he's doing what he can from his phone.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Shifty, will you be keeping Harry on and playing him as well as DMing?

As long as its PF legit I'm fine.

You aren't required to be a PFS registered player, but if you are, I can issue you your chronicle sheets.

Make what mechanical changes you like, especially as a lot changed since you started Kabal.

Bree wrote:

Sadly, Harry will be heading back to Riddleport to save some crazed PallyCleric who is all about redeeming lives and building sanctuaries the party told him about, a man like that will get himself killed. That and theres a power vacuum, so Harry is off to also become a 'coulourful racing identity and totally legit businesman' given all the vacancies that opened after the party went through.

Mark wrote:

Yep, we have a Witch coming too - he's just limited in posting right this minute (Sable, as mentioned above).

Tark (Pally) still pending reply.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Is there any changes that you see that need to be made to Bree?

VC - Sydney, Australia

She looks short on WBL/gear - 33,000gp is your allocation for L8.

Cool - well with Sable returning I'll likely drop Cat back into a middle of the road role, maybe an Investigator... will ponder before post (probably tomorrow as I've got work shenanigans today).

Female Changeling(Hulking) Bard/10 (HP: 82/82; AC27; FF23; T14; F+7, R+11, W+7; Perc: +11, Init +10)

Ooh, two witches. Then you can be the first witches in history of Pathfinder to take and actually use the Coven hex

Coven still needs a hag... so not really a go there.

Shaman is a possibility though...

Hmmm... Heavens Shaman with Enveloping Void and Heaven's Leap... would likely combo well with allowing Bree to get into flanks, forestall AoOs from getting close to giants... has potential *stroking beard thoughtfully*

Priorities = correct :)

Warblings:
Shaman Level 8 with the Heavens primary spirit

3 Hexes - Enveloping Void (puts the lights out), Heaven's Leap (dim door for others), Shapeshift?

Familiar - Sugar Glider?

The idea of a Shaman is warming on me...

/Clarification on PFS Status.

You are not required to be a registered PFS player.
If you are you will be issued chronicle sheets for your PFS play, if not then you wont be.

There is no difference other than that.

On a side note, it might be worth at least registering in case you DO later decide to engage in PFS play (quite popular here on the PbP boards) and collect your sheets, but that is up to you :)

Venture Captain since December 2014

I currently have 10 PFS characters, but Celestra is not one of them. Is it possible to use her and apply the chronicle sheets to a different character? If I do register Celestra, I presume she would have to be 1st level.

VC - Sydney, Australia

You can play the AP with whatever character you wish, and that character does not have to be PFS legal.

The Chronicle sheet can be applied to any PFS legal character, you do not need to make a PFS Celestra (though yes if yuo did she'd be a level 1 PFS character per usual), you can assign the sheet to any of your eligible characters.

long answer/AP Guide:

The Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition Adventure Path may be played as part of the Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign for credit. These adventures are produced for a wider audience than just Pathfinder Society Organized Play, and are thus structured differently from scenarios. As such, the specific rules changes needed for receiving Pathfinder Society Organized Play credit when playing these adventures are presented here.

KEY DIFFERENCES FROM SCENARIOS
Pathfinder Adventure Paths consist of six installments, each roughly four times the length of a standard scenario, and can take months or even years to complete. They do not contain faction missions, nor are they tiered for play by characters over a wide range of levels. Thematically, most Adventure Paths do not assume the characters are Pathfinders. GMs and players are encouraged to create a reasonable plot hook for their characters’ participation.

SANCTIONED CONTENT
Because of the length and scope of Pathfinder Adventure Paths, only specific portions of these adventures are sanctioned for Pathfinder Society credit. In general, a single dungeon complex or adventuring location is sanctioned from each Adventure Path volume, though some variation from this may arise from time to time. The following sections of the Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition are considered sanctioned content.

LEGAL PATHFINDER SOCIETY CHARACTERS
All players must use an existing Pathfinder Society character (without modification) within the legal level range for the specific Rise of the Runelords adventure being played.

For the sanctioned content in “Burnt Offerings” and “The Skinsaw Murders,” if you do not have a character in the correct level range, you may use a Pathfinder Society pregenerated character, available on paizo.com. You may apply the credit for the adventure to a Pathfinder Society character as soon as she reaches the level of the pregenerated character played. Equipment listed on the pregenerated character sheet may only be sold to clear conditions, such as death, during the play of the adventure and any remaining wealth does not carry over at the end of the sanctioned content.

Alternatively, if you are participating in the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path with an ongoing group undertaking the entire, six-chapter campaign, you may receive credit for playing the sanctioned portions of the adventure as if you had played a pregenerated character. In this case, GMs running the Adventure Path are not bound to the rules of the Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign (such as 20-point buy, unavailability of hero points, etc.) when running the campaign or the sanctioned portion of the adventure. Pathfinder Societycharacters and characters from an ongoing Adventure Path campaign may not play in the same adventure.

APPLYING CREDIT
All players receive a Chronicle sheet unless, at the GM’s discretion, they are replaying the Adventure Path for no credit. If a player uses an existing Pathfinder Society character for the adventure, he must apply the Chronicle sheet to that character immediately. A player who uses a pregenerated character must hold the Chronicle sheet until his character reaches the level of the pregenerated character. GM Comment ^^^ so your characters here are treated as though you played a Pre-Gen.

A GM who runs any of the sanctioned content from the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path may likewise apply the Chronicle sheet to one of her Pathfinder Society characters. The GM must decide which of her characters will receive the Chronicle sheet at the time the sanctioned Adventure Path content is completed and the Chronicle sheets are filled out.

Playing each distinct portion of Adventure Path sanctioned content from beginning to end earns a character 3 XP and 4 Prestige Points if that character is on the normal advancement track, or 1-1/2 XP and 2 Prestige Points for characters on the slow advancement track. There are no Day Job checks when playing a sanctioned Adventure Path.

If a character dies and is brought back to life, the GM must determine the rewards for that character. The minimum possible reward is 0 gp, 1 XP, and 1 PP on the medium advancement track or 0 gp, 1/2 XP, and 1/2 PP on the slow advancement track. If a character participates in more than two-thirds of the module, she should receive the full rewards. GMs and active players are encouraged to hasten the return of any characters waiting to be raised from the dead.

Players who do not complete each game session earn 1/3 fewer gold pieces, 1 fewer XP, and 1 fewer Prestige Point for each session missed. This also applies to players who join later sessions; they receive 1/3 fewer gold pieces, 1 fewer XP, and 1 fewer Prestige Point for each session missed. In both cases, players earn a minimum of 1/3 gold pieces, 1 XP, and 1 PP. If a character earns more XP than she needs to reach her next level, she may not choose to switch advancement tracks at the new level earned.

As always, each player may receive credit for each Adventure Path volume once as a player and once as a GM, in either order. Players must accept a Chronicle sheet for their characters the first time they play any sanctioned content. A player may replay sanctioned content at the GM’s discretion, but the player may not receive more than one Chronicle sheet per adventure.

Sanctioned Content Key

P1 “Burnt Offerings” 3–5
P2 “The SkinsawMurders” 4-6
P3 "The Hook Mountain Massacre” 8-10
P4 “Fortress of the Stone Giants” 12-14
P5 “Sins of the Saviors” 14-16
P6 “The Spires Xin-Shalast” 16-18

Each sheet generates 3xp, and 4pp.

****
I have been reading up the level progression summary.

At this point in the AP the party should have just hit level 9.
Please adjust your sheets and WBL accodingly.

"9TH LEVEL: The PCs should reach 9th level midway
through the grueling task of retaking Fort Rannick."

Local internet outage. 3G sucks. Hopefully they'll have it fixed soon.

Shifty - with Karlan, Ailetha, Sable, Bree, Kabal and Celestra you've got six already.

Seven can get a little bit unwieldy, if you'd prefer to keep it to the six only I don't have any issues keeping to the shadows on the outer.

VC - Sydney, Australia

True, but I'm not that fussed as I have rolled with PFS groups seven deep before. If that's not your bag though and you are more inclined to sit out and see then thats ok too.

On one hand it can make for a bit of a handful in combat etc, but from a storyline it can be good because more people = more kicking the story along. And I tend to like fast paced action. Same way I was as a player :P

Male Orc Expert 5

I think KArlan was pretty close to being at WBL I'll double check. HE did seem to get the lion's share of the loot since we were trying to keep frontliners on par.

Thanks! I also found this page where we discussed it before

http://paizo.com/campaigns/DMZyrensHeartOfRiddles/gameplay&page=97

So Kabal's +2 breastplate cost 9550 gp. now I can do the rest of the math.

OK, I figured out my WBL and noted equipment costs on Kabal's sheet.

Shifty - when you have time can you confirm? I have the total at bottom of Equipment list. Thanks.

Female Changeling(Hulking) Bard/10 (HP: 82/82; AC27; FF23; T14; F+7, R+11, W+7; Perc: +11, Init +10)

Ok, have most of my equipment purchased. I have about 3k left if there are other items that people think are important. Still need to level and switch a few feats (get rid of Craft Armor).

So far, Ailetha has always gone with straight bard. If anyone has any thoughts, it might be worth taking 3 levels in Swashbuckler, which is sort of her style anyway since she fights with a rapier. It would mean swapping the heavy shield for a buckler, but other than that, not a lot of changes. Would make her more effective in combat and the ability to intimidate as a swift action is never a bad thing.

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts.

Shifty wrote:

After a bit of thought on it... I'll pull back to leave you with an even six. I'll tag along a watching, but leave it to the A team for the ROFLstomping.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

K, I've added a few things to Bree's equipment. Think she's ready if you want to double check.

Also, she has far more money left than what she's use to or what she would feel even remotely comfortable carrying so if anyone needs anything Bree is always open to bartering for future favors. :D

Male Human Paladin 10| AC 28 T 14 FF 26 | HP 99/99 | F +15 R +10 W +13 | Init +2| REACH

I think I'll just clear out his gear and start him anew after he levels.

Roll for hp or?

VC - Sydney, Australia

Ahh the HP conundrum.

From what I recall Karlan had a terrible time with that business last time.
I'm used to PFS being Max first level, then half (round up), which seems to be a good compromise,

IF your current rolled HP are less than the Max First, then Half (round up), please apply that formula. If you have more than that just leave as is.

Future levelling lets just stick with the Half (round up) concept, keeps things even-ish.

If people have spare gold, I would suggest that there are several ways to spend it - not the least of which is a ready supply of consumables.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

So, are we needing to redo our hp?
