New Society Player - Some Cleric Questions

Advice

Silver Crusade

I've been watching friends play for quite some time now and eventually got drawn into playing. It's super fun (survived my second scenario) but I'm still at that point where I don't know if I'm doing anything properly. My friend is letting me borrow his core book but attempting to understand on my own is...daunting (TL;DR also).

So my questions that I'm trying to have a better understanding of my class is (if someone wouldn't mind dumbing it down):

- Do my Orisons have infinite uses?

- How many spells can I learn after each level? Also, at level 1. (Haven't reached level 2 yet but will by my next game.)

- How many uses of a spell can I cast per day?

- How many skill points am I getting per level?

- Where are these wands of (spell name) people seem to be starting off with? My level of ignorance is making it hard to find.

I feel like the should be more to ask but this is what's been chewing my mind since my last society game.

My character is a Dwarf Cleric of Sarenrae

My Ability Score is:
Str: 11 | 0
Dex: 12 | 1
Con: 16 | 3
Int: 10 | 0
Wis: 16 | 3
Cha: 13 | 1

If I missed out on anything, please let me know.

Orisons have infinite uses. They're nice to have, but they won't do much for you in combat.

Your a cleric, so you don't learn any spells. You know them all and choose what to prepare at the beginning of each list. This means the entire cleric list is available to you. I suggest keeping little notes of your favorite/useful spells.

There is a chart on the cleric page to tell you how many you can cast. You get 1+ a spell from a chosen domain + a bonus from high wisdom. Theres another chart that should show you the bonus from wisdom(your bonus atm is 1, so 3 per day.)

You get 2+int modifier. So you get 2.

You can spend 2 PP to buy a level one wand, becuase you can buy a 750 gp item and a fully charged level 1 wand cost 750 gp. They're very useful.

In addition to the above responses, let's see if I can hook you up with some useful resources.

First, for questions on how the Pathfinder game rules work, you'll generally get the most appropriate traffic/answers if you post in the Rules Questions forum.

For questions specific to the Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign (like what to spend Prestige Points on), try posting in the PFS General Discussion forum.

Make sure you also download the FREE Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play and give it a look.

Finally, for tips and suggestions, try asking around in the Advice forum.

Have fun, and don't be afraid to keep asking questions!

- Do my Orisons have infinite uses?

Yes, see page 41 of the Core Rule Book, "Orisons:"
"These spells are cast like any othe spell, but they are not expended when cast and may be used again."
At level 1 you can prepare three orisons and cast any one of those three in any given round.

- How many spells can I learn after each level? Also, at level 1. (Haven't reached level 2 yet but will by my next game.)
See page 39 of the Core Rule Book, "Spells:"
As has been stated, you do not need to "learn" spells. Clerics gain access to all spells that they are capable of casting as they level. You can, therfore, select any 1st level spell to memorize up to your limit.

- How many uses of a spell can I cast per day?
See page 40 of the Core Rule Book, Table 3-5
You will see for 1st level it stated "1+1" for 1st level spells per day. The first "1" can be any 1st level spell from the Cleric list. The second "1" must be from one of your chosen domains (See page 41 of the Core Rule Book, "Domains:"
In addition you gain bonus spells based on your casting stat, see page 17 of the Core Rule Book, Table 1-3 as well as "Wisdom (Wis)". Your Wisdom is 16 so you gain 1 extra 1st level spell.

Total Spells per day 3: 1 normal, 1 bonus, 1 domain

- Where are these wands of (spell name) people seem to be starting off with? My level of ignorance is making it hard to find.
First, they should not be starting off with them. Society players have to earn either the gold or the Prestige to earn things like wands. You can have a wand at 1st level, but not until you have played at least one scenario and earned 2 prestige.
Reference to find Wands, see Core Rule Book page 496, "Wands".
Reference on how to aquire one in Society play using Prestige, see Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play page 23-27, and specificaly Table 5-4 on page 27.

As for your last bit about believing there is more you should be asking... it is a lot to take in if you are unfamilar with the system. My suggestion is simply read the book. When you are done, read it again. The more familar you are with it the easier it will be to both know the answer and to know what questions to ask to clarify things you are uncertain about.
