as far as cable channels offering ala cart, that is kind of what we are getting now with streaming services, and frankly I think it sucks. You can easily tally up 5 or 6 subscriptions just to watch the content you want.
but at least you are paying for what you actually want, instead of being saddled with a bunch of stuff you don't want, and which frankly are channels that would die out if they were not riding on the coat tails of the channels people actually are interested in.

Uh...at the end of the day I am still buying specific services for what ends up being a handful of shows and movies.
It's just that rather than getting....say 30 channels I don't watch, I get different streaming services with diverse content...most of which I don't watch.

Even the streaming services have programs i'm not interested in. Interests are quite diverse. I happen to be a man of many interests, and if some of them are quite niche, i'm ok with them surviving off the coattails of other more popular networks/streams.
