That said, I live in an area where the VO's are often not the lead at a given event. If this person is playing is playing in such an area, can such a ban be enforced?
I believe that Mike has already confirmed that VCs/VLs have no power over games they are not running/organizing. In this way, they're no different than anyone else.
We have nicer shirts.
You might, as a VC. I dunno about mine. :/

Ours are nicer than theirs. If you don't like your VL shirt, you'd hate the VC one. ;)

Spoiler for Adam:
:P

Bringing it directly to the boards makes it look more like you are trying to get even than trying to get the decision overruled, though I doubt that was your intention.

Thus the reason I named no names nor the city. The VC in question knows who he is, who I am and where this happened; only people who know me (like Clint, above) would know the particulars of this case.

The VC's statement to me suggested that I am banned from ALL Society events in this city, not just the ones he is responsible for. I understand his concerns, but if I find someone else willing to organize an event which he is not responsible for, and is willing to have me come play, then I should be allowed to play.

Also, someone stated that such bannings usually come after warnings. I wasn't given any warnings; all I was given was one dismissal from a table (before play had started), a couple of months ago, by our VC, and then the banning on Saturday. No warning given, no chance to show that I had improved. I was just told that there were people who had approached the VC and stated that if I was present at a venue, they were not going to be.

If some people have problems with me being at a venue, then it's still their problem. These people are welcome to come to me with their concerns. They are not; they are instead choosing to sneak around behind my back and possibly spread rumor and gossip about me. I find this behavior reprehensible, myself. If you have a problem with me, tell it to me directly, and don't assume I know what your problem with me is. Unless you tell me about an offending behavior, I generally don't know I'm doing it.

I am more than capable of organizing and running my own Society events; I already organize and run Living Forgotten Realms events for a game store in town. Doing so for the Society wouldn't be difficult. But I wasn't given that option. I was just told that as far as my city went, I was banned.

VC shirts are 100% polyester. Baby! No wrinkles though.

John-Andre, I understand how you feel. People LOVE this game. They love it so much some of them get offended if you do not play the way they want to you to.

Look at the faction wars. You play 4e, you have to hide that from some people. I came into my first PFS game saying how I loved D&D and all it's styles. The VC of the state made references to me being stupid because I liked 4e. I told the other VC and all I got back were other horrible stories about how he is banned in areas, and even worse stories. But those are heresay.

When I first joined my group there was a clique running the local games. They were complaining that the new players were playign summoners and that they were over powered. One of them bragged abotu how he would kill them both so they would not be a problem. Withn a month he did so. Another guy complained about a player cheating and how he would make him pay. The next game the player was killed by that DM. I was not at the tables to see how fair it was but. But they did said it and did do it.

People will always be caty. It is no different in the realm of roleplay. Just because they are a VC does not always make them right or moral. You can have a private game all you want and if your VC shows up to your private event ignore him. He can not stop you from playing a game he is not welcomed at.

If a VC, in your opinion, is not behaving in a respectful and dignified manner, it is your responsibility as part of the PFS community to inform Mike Brock. He holds us to high standards as volunteers representing Paizo and would want to know of any problems.

For a VL, start with the VC. If that doesn't resolve any issues you have, let Mike Brock know.

If you have an issue with a GM, talk to the GM (if this is feasible) or the event organizer/venture officer. I suggest not contacting Mike Brock to deal with individual GMs unless he was at the event himself.
