I actually took SKR's comment as less directed at you than at those that might follow and devolve the discussion.

And, for what it's worth, I don't see it as bad design. It is a design choice that was made years ago and they have the strength of character to hold to it. As you say, to each their own.

And rule 0 is always available at the table.

Well, I, for one, know for a fact "that being confrontational and sarcastic is a violation of the 'don't be a jerk rule'" and is an offense that results in a 3-day ban.

1. Jason, did you enjoy Dragoncon?

2. Is Erik still mad at me?

U'h guys sorry if this is rude but A, this is the Ask Jason Bulmahn thread, and B' It's to ask none rule questions so maybe not the place to be having this discusion?

Edit nevermind seems to have solved itself.

Jason, somehow, someone, finds someway, to turn the US into a non-alcoholic country again: What do you do?

0. I am just going to go ahead and ignore the snark and non-sequitors in some of the previous comments (not this one, this one is fine).

1. I did indeed. Dragoncon is always a great show filled with awesome panels, great costumes, and fantastic parties.

2. Maybe.. you'd have to ask him

It usually comes out sounding more like "bull-mon", although if you ask my grandmother it should be "bull-maan" with the "a" dragged out a bit because of the H.

That damnable H.. nobody can seem to place it.

Jhason Bulman.

I don't see the problem.

Jason do you have any advice on how to plan a mega-dungeon campaign?

Start small and work toward the big. Make sure you've got a theory on how you want it to go from the beginning, so that you can seed plots and references early, but once it gets down to actual design, don't be afraid to do it piecemeal as needed.

And make sure to include recurring themes. Things that appear over and over pointing to a common story or plot.

Thats the $0.05 advice anyway

What was the most fun thing to design/co-design for Pathfinder? And what was the most difficult? :)

James Jacob, Jhason Bulman, and Treerazor.

Quite the trio, those three!

Jason,

Do you prefer to work on a Mac or a PC? Why?

While I know you want the playtest for Occult Adventures to be a surprise when it is released, I was wondering by what time at the latest we will have the playtest available.
By the end of September? End of October? End of November?

Also from Dragoncon: how did you and Erik feel when you found out a lot people chose to come see you guys instead of going to the Patrick Stewart panel?

Is there going to be any statement from Paizo on the status of ACG Errata? Can we expect it sooner than 1-2 years from now? Does Pummeling Style Work with Great Swords?

Do you keep a giant web of design points that help you keep a visual reference on what mechanics do what? (Such as all the classes and ways to do sneak attack having an at-a-glance representation) If not, how do you keep that kind of thing organized well? I'd think something analogous would be almost a necessity at this point.

OMG I JUST SAW THE LINNORM DEATH CURSE RAGE POWERS!!!!

Iloveyouiloveyouiloveiloveilove :3

As for a question, why wasn't the new rage powers put together in one place instead of sneaking them in under the Barbarian and Skald archetype sections?

What was the reason for making sunder, disarm, and trip attacks that can be used in place of an attack of opportunity vs the other combat manuevers? Which ones were chosen because it made sense and because of balance?

Grand Lodge

Feel free to ignore this as it's a rules question, but can I wield a glaive and simultaneously threaten with armor spikes?

Shadow Lodge

Can an Arcanist take a focused school with the school understanding exploit?

Jason if Paizo did a live game like the penny arcade live games, would you run or play?

Jason, what's the strangest group of PCs you've ever GMd? (You get to pick what "strange" means in this context.)

Mine would have to be the party that had the vampire and the lich in it, who hunted undead.

Are you guys going to announce ahead of time when the Occult Adventures playtest will be or will you release it without any warning at all?

Archetypes for classes using the Mount class feature usable by Centaur, Drider and the like?

Archetypes for those who want to use Centaur, Drider and the like as Mount?

^ Thank the ARG.

Do you plan to someday awaken from Gencon? Last I heard from you Gencon kept you too busy to post on the forums.

Wow, talk about busy, he hasn't been here for over two months.

Yeah... playtests will do that to my time. Rapid Fire time!!!!

Most Fun: The alpha. For that thing, the sky was the limit. Everything was so crazy then and I was working 16 hour days to get it done in time.

Most difficult: The XP/treasure system. I must have gone through 20 iterations of that. To this day, I am still not 100% happy with the end result, but at least it works.

PC. I like to be able to customize and Macs streamline way too many choices that I would prefer to make. Its the same reason I got off the iPhone train.

Cmon now.. Sir Pat's panel had to have about 10x as many people as ours.

I wish I could have gone :)

I once ran an old RPGA game where everyone played a intelligent magic item, struggling to control the one PC that carried them all.. It was crazy.

I did indeed. Good movie, I enjoyed it immensely. Despite the liberties taken, I felt like it was one of the better films to show off some of the more "far out" concepts of science.

Jason

And that should get me all caught up. If I skipped your question, it was because it was specifically rules related...

Which APs would you say you're most knowledgeable of in terms of the themes and narrative ideas they portray and explore? Like, I know James Jacobs is the one to go to for any of the Varisian-based APs as well as Serpent's Skull and Wrath of the Righteous, and Wes is best to ask about Carrion Crown.

None really. I have not worked on any of them in an official capacity, nor have I run any of them (I prefer to home-brew my campaigns).

Alas, no. I rarely have the time with other pressing matters needing my attention.. like this outline for [[REDACTED]].

With the Spiritualist and Phantom from Occult Adventures I bring you a question you should have seen coming: How long before we get a Phantom bloodline for Sorcerers/Bloodragers?

Jason,

How do you tell amides and amines apart in an IR spectrograph?

How do you tell nitriles and internal alkyls apart in an IR spectrograph?
