Kami Bloodline?

I just noticed that the Dragon Empires Primer has an Oni Bloodline for Sorcerers. Why didn't they make a Kami Bloodline? Has anyone made one?

Probably because unlike Oni, and every other critter that defines a bloodline, Kami aren't a single species or type. They are spirits that vary as much as the places and lands they personify. The various elemental and spirit bloodlines are a good standin for Kami.

I see your point. A Verdant Bloodline would probably be a good standin also. Hmmmm.

Really kami are spiritual beings of energy, and in some cases deities. Even in the Kaidan setting of Japanese horror, kami aren't something that would have a bloodline. They might not even have blood, nor be able to pass anything biological to non-kami. They don't exist that way.

It's like considering an Angel bloodline, Celestial makes sense, but Angels are about as biological as kami.

Many of the bloodlines don't actually require you to be in a blood relation to the ideal it embodies. Examples include Dream., Destined, and Maestro.

I like Fey or Sylvan for a compromise myself. Who wouldn't want a free furry best friend eh?

The yamabushi (paladin archetype) from Way of the Samurai gets an alteration to Divine Bond. By choosing to bond with Kami, the yamabushi gets an outsider, INT 6, animal like a druid's animal companion. (So there's a paladin's association with kami that gets you a furry too!)

Yeah, It seems some people's translations of 'bloodlines' are less literal than others.

For instance this thread about android sorcerers.

I have an idea for a samsaran sorcerer. He lived a previous life as a ranger who guarded a forest. Since he was a particularly noble soul he was reincarnated as a Kami. Then after failing at his duties, he was then reincarnated as an Oni.

I will create him as a crossblooded samsaran sorcerer with the Oni and Verdant bloodlines.

aww I got referenced!;) I don't see why a kami wildblooded version of the verdant bloodline isn't feasible.

A kami wildblood would be cool, but to LazarX's point, a kami heritage can be a reason for some of the bloodlines that already exist.
Including:
Aquatic
Stormborn
Verdant
Elemental
Serpentine

And maybe some others that I haven't thought about.

I'll check it out. I might just go with the Verdant Bloodline. I feel like it will make just as much sense.
