I'd really like one. Minmaxboards isn't active or Pathfinder specific enough for me. I'm also interested in seeing how many other people would like this. Is there any particular reason that there isn't one already?

This has been discussed many times, such as here.

Personally, I'm torn. While I detest "char-op" and think that a dedicated forum would probably look Paizo was officially embracing this kind of gaming and thus encouraging it (which I think is a bad thing), but the existence of such a forum would rid the other forums of "char-op" threads.

Char-op isn't really a "kind of gaming" distinct from anything else, just so you know. But that has probably been said before. I started to read that thread but didn't get far, it made me angry.

Yeah I know the feeling. I don't really have any desire to discuss this issue, I just wanted to point out that you are not the first to bring it up. And since the thread I mentioned is old, I don't think Paizo are really interested on establishing such a forum. Sorry.

You want the Pathfinder RPG Advice forum. There are two main kinds of character optimization threads you can post there: "Please make this character moar awesome" and "Here's a guide to making characters moar awesome."

If your thread is arguing about the minutia of rules and how to get around them if only Rule 0 and you sir are in fact playing this game wrong and you're stupid if you don't see how blah blah blah etc.," then yeah, there is in fact no place for that on our website.

This describes the monk threads pretty well, and they seem to be on the increase again lately.

Just to chime in - i've found Advice to be a relatively pleasant environment. Heck, i even skim the threads now and then. A far cry from the absolutely caustic and lingo-overwrought boards I've come to detest from... lets just say other companies.

If you can't find a home there... that's sad and telling at the same time.

I actually think the fact that optimizers have to deal with roleplayers and roleplayers have to deal with optimizers is a good thing. Segregation is bad. Intigration has a centralizing (usually a good thing) effect. Its kind of like politics, the fact that right and left dont actually talk to eachother like human beings anymore is more then half the problem.

If you segregate people into talking to ONLY likeminded people, views become extreme, which can be caustic to a community of any kind. By mixing everything together it forces people to at least briefly think about how other people play the game and hopefully become more sympathetic to their views.

Or just hide the relevant forums.
